- Mit dem Satellite Award Beste Hauptdarstellerin werden die Schauspielerinnen geehrt, die als Hauptfiguren herausragende Leistungen in einem Film gezeigt haben. Vor 2011 gab es diese Auszeichnung für eine Hauptdarstellerin in einem Drama und eine weitere für eine Hauptdarstellerin in einem Film der Kategorie Komödie/Musical. 2016 und 2017 wurden zwei Siegerinnen geehrt: die beste Hauptdarstellerin eines Independent-Films sowie die einer Veröffentlichung eines großen Filmstudios („Major“). Ab 2018 kehrte man zu der ursprünglichen Aufteilung nach Drama und Komödie/Musical zurück. Es werden immer jeweils die Hauptdarstellerinnen des Vorjahres ausgezeichnet. (de)

De 2011 à 2017, la catégorie résulte de la fusion des catégories Meilleure actrice dans un film dramatique (Satellite Award for Best Actress – Drama) et Meilleure actrice dans un film musical ou une comédie (Satellite Award for Best Actress – Musical or Comedy). Depuis 2018, les 2 catégories, à savoir Meilleure actrice dans un film dramatique et Meilleure actrice dans un film musical ou une comédie, sont recréées. (fr)

Pada 2011, IPA menebarkan nominasi-nominasi Satellite-nya dalam kategori-kategori perfilman dari 22 sampai 19 klasifikasi; perubahan tersebut merefleksikan penggabungan drama dan komedi di bawah penominasian Film Terbaik umum, termasuk penominasian Aktor/Aktris Terbaik dan penominasian Pemeran Pendukung. * From 1996 to 2010, two categories based on genre were presented, Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama and Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical
* In 2011, the IPA pared down its Satellite nominations in the motion picture categories from 22 to 19 classifications; the change reflects the merger of drama and comedy under a general Best Picture heading, including the Best Actor/Actress headings and the Supporting headings.
* In 2016 and 2017, two winners were announced within the Best Actor category, one for the performance by an actor in a major studio film and other for a performance in an independent film. Since 2018, the two categories based on genre are presented again replacing the Best Actor in a Motion Picture category for the Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama and Best Actor – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical categories previously presented.
