- The Ford Focus RS WRC is a car built for the Ford World Rally Team by Ford Europe and M-Sport and based on the Ford Focus Climate 2-litre production hatchback, developed to compete in the World Rally Championship. The RS stands for Rallye Sport and the WRC for World Rally Car, the car's FIA specification. The Focus RS WRC was in competition from 1999 to 2010, winning 44 world rallies and two manufacturers' world titles (2006 and 2007). It was replaced by the Ford Fiesta RS WRC. Like all contemporary World Rally Cars, the car is heavily modified from the production version, with which it shares only the basic shape and some parts of the bodyshell. The car features four-wheel drive, rather than the front-wheel drive of the road car. The engine used in the 2007 Focus WRC is based on Ford's 2.0 Litre Duratec from other models in the Focus range as rallying rules do not permit the standard 2.5-litre engine of the Focus ST or road going RS. As with most rally cars, the 2.0-litre engine is heavily modified and performance was increased using a turbocharger. The 2009 Ford Focus RS WRC uses a Ford 1998cc Pipo built l4 Duratec WRC engine (four cylinders, 16 valves, bore 85 mm and stroke 88 mm), Pi electronic engine management system, Garrett turbocharger (with required 34 mm inlet restrictor), air intercooler, and a catalytic converter. The car's transmission is a permanent four-wheel drive with an M-Sport designed active centre differential, Pi electronic differential control units, M-Sport/Ricardo five-speed sequential gearbox with electro-hydraulically controlled shift and an M-Sport/Sachs multi-disc carbon clutch. Fue diseñado y construido por Ford en conjunto con la empresa británica M-Sport y fue utilizado por el equipo Ford World Rally Team en el Campeonato Mundial de Rally durante los años 1999 y 2010 en sustitución del Ford Escort WRC, automóvil que había sido el primer modelo World Rally Car de la marca y con el que había competido entre 1997 y 1998. Hizo su debut en el Rally de Montecarlo de 1999, participó durante doce años como oficial en un total de ciento setenta y tres pruebas logrando cuarenta y cuatro victorias, ciento cuarenta y ocho podios y dos títulos de constructores, en 2006 y 2007. Se construyó sobre el chasis de la primera y la segunda generación del modelo de serie y contó con diez evoluciones diferentes. Verschillende evoluties van de auto hebben tussen 1999 en 2010 deelgenomen aan het Wereldkampioenschap Rally. De Focus WRC werd met ingang van het seizoen 1999 de vervanger van de Ford Escort WRC. De auto debuteerde in de handen van Colin McRae en Simon Jean-Joseph tijdens de Rally van Monte Carlo. Tijdens de Safari Rally datzelfde jaar, won McRae de auto's eerste WK-rally. Vanaf het seizoen 2001 werd de naam officieel omgedoopt tot Ford Focus RS WRC. In het seizoen 2006 won Ford voor het eerst in zevenentwintig jaar de constructeurstitel met de Focus WRC. Dit resultaat werd in het seizoen 2007 herhaald. Een rijderstitel werd met deze auto nooit behaald. In totaal hebben tien versies van de auto deelgenomen aan het WK Rally. W Rajdowych Mistrzostwach Świata zadebiutował z początkiem sezonu 1999, w Rajdzie Monte Carlo. Do roku 2008, Ford wyprodukował 8 wersji tego samochodu. Pierwsza wersja, powstała w roku 1999 nazwana została po prostu Focus WRC; drugą, zbudowaną w 2000 roku, oznaczono jako Ford Focus Racing WRC. Począwszy zaś od roku 2001, kolejne ewolucje oznaczane są jako Ford Focus RS WRC XX, gdzie XX to dwie ostatnie cyfry roku, w którym samochód pojawił się po raz pierwszy na rajdowych trasach (01, 02, 03 itd.).
