- العصر الذهبي هو فترة زمنية تم فيها تحقيق إنجازات عظيمة في أحد المجالات. يعود أصل المصطلح للشعراء اليونان والرومان القدماء، حيث استخدموه للتعبيرعن فترة كانت البشرية فيها نقية وتعيش أياماً أفضل. قدم الفيلسوف الإغريقي القديم هزيود تعبير «العصر الذهبي» في «الأعمال والأيام» حيث كان يتحدث عن الفترة التي عاش فيها «العرق الذهبي» من البشر. كان هذا جزءاً من خمسة أقسام من العصور، بدءاً بالعصر الذهبي، ثم العصر الفضي، ثم العصر البرونزي، ثم عصر الأبطال (من ضمنه حرب طروادة)، وأخيراً العصر الحديدي الحالي. تم تعديل المصطلح بواسطة أوفيد في «التحولات» إلى العصور «المعدنية الأربعة» (الذهبي، الفضي، البرونزي، الحديدي). - L'edat d'or és el terme que s'usa en historiografia per designar el període d'esplendor d'una civilització, tema o país. Prové del tòpic literari de l'edat d'or i s'assimila a la connotació de l'or com a material del màxim guardó. Si el període està més delimitat en el temps, es pot parlar de segle d'or o fins i tot de dècada d'or. Per a posteriors períodes de similar brillantor, es pot parlar de segona edat d'or o, si es considera que no arriba al nivell de la primera però és igualment una època destacable, . - A golden age is a period considered the apotheosis in the history of a country or people, a field of endeavor when the greatest of tasks were accomplished. The term originated from early Greek and Roman poets, who used it to refer to a time when mankind lived in a better time and was pure (see Golden Age). The ancient Greek philosopher Hesiod introduced the term in his Works and Days, when referring to the period when the "Golden Race" of man lived. This was part of fivefold division of Ages of Man, starting with the Golden age, then the Silver Age, the Bronze Age, the Age of Heroes (including the Trojan War), and finally, the current Iron Age. The concept was further refined by Ovid, in his Metamorphoses, into the four "metal ages" (golden, silver, bronze, and iron). (en)
