- M-Net (an abbreviation of Electronic Media Network) is a South African pay television channel established by Naspers in 1986. The channel broadcasts both local and international programming, including general entertainment, children's series, sport and movies. While the TV signal is generally encrypted, M-Net showed some programmes 'free to air' in its "Open Time" slot between 5 p.m. and 7 pm, until the slot closed on 1 April 2007. In the early 1990s, M-Net added a second analogue channel called Community Services Network (CSN), and began digital broadcasting via satellite to the rest of Africa, via its sister company MultiChoice. With the introduction of MultiChoice's multi-channel digital satellite TV service, DStv, in 1995, several different channels have been created to complement the original M-Net channel, including the now-defunct M-Net Series and several film/movie channels based on genre and preference. Net als Canal+ in Nederland, België en Frankrijk worden er verschillende genres televisieprogramma's gemengd en zo is er voor ieder wat wils, van kinderprogramma's, sport en films tot de bestbekeken series van het millennium, nationaal en internationaal. Alhoewel M-Net betaaltelevisie is, is er ook regelmatig "M-Net Open Time"; dit houdt in dat er gratis wordt uitgezonden tussen 17:00 en 19:00. Dit zal in april 2007 ophouden te bestaan. Begin jaren 1990 werd M-Net toegevoegd als vast kanaal van DStv (satelliettelevisie). M-Net beheert ook enkele andere televisiekanalen zoals: , en , (komedie, realiteitsprogramma's en drama), (actiefilms en sci-fi), (kinderzender), (muziekkanaal), (doelgroep: 14–23 jaar oud), KykNet, Afrikaanse zender en Afrikaanse muziekzender . Ook is er sinds kort de Afrikaanstalige kinderzender Kowee te zien. A mesma foi criada em 1986 por um consórcio de empresas jornalísticas, inclusive a Naspers.Semelhante ao Canal +, da França, o canal oferece uma mistura de entretenimento geral, os programas infantis, esportes e filmes, a maioria dos quais são adquiridos do exterior, mas alguns também são produzidos localmente. Enquanto o sinal de TV é geralmente codificado, M-Net emitiu alguns programas abertos das 17h às 19h, até à abertura em 1 de abril de 2007. No início de 1990, M-Net adicionou um canal analógico segunda chamada Community Services Network (CSN), e começou a transmissão digital via satélite para o resto da África, através da sua empresa-irmã MultiChoice. Com a introdução do canal na Digital Satellite Television, DSTV, em 1995, vários canais diferentes, foram criados para complementar a original M-Net.M-Net lançou a sua assinatura na WebTV em Agosto de 2005 sob o nome KuduClub.
