- Chantilly ist eine französische Gemeinde im Département Oise in der Region Hauts-de-France. Sie liegt inmitten des Waldes von Chantilly, im Tal der Nonette, 38 Kilometer nördlich von Paris. Die Gemeinde hat 10.950 Einwohner (Stand 1. Januar 2019), in der Agglomeration (Unité urbaine) leben etwa 37.000 Menschen. Chantilly ist weltbekannt für sein Schloss, in dem sich das Musée Condé mit einer bedeutenden Kunstsammlung befindet, und als französisches Zentrum für Pferdezucht. Auf seiner Pferderennbahn finden regelmäßig die Pferderennen Prix du Jockey Club und statt. Jahrhunderts war die Stadt ein Zentrum der Porzellan- und Spitzenproduktion, danach eine beliebte Sommerfrische für die Aristokratie und für Künstler sowie eine starke englische Gemeinde, die Pferdezucht betrieb. Heute gehört Chantilly zum Großraum Paris. Es gibt keine nennenswerten Industrieunternehmen in Chantilly, 40 % seiner Einwohner arbeiten in der Hauptstadt. It now houses the Musée Condé. Chantilly is also known for its horse racing track, Chantilly Racecourse, where prestigious races are held for the Prix du Jockey Club and Prix de Diane. Chantilly and the surrounding communities are home to the largest racehorse-training community in France. Chantilly is also home to the Living Museum of the Horse, with stables built by the Princes of Condé. It is considered one of the more important tourist destinations in the Paris area. Située au cœur de la forêt de Chantilly, dans la vallée de la Nonette, elle se trouve au centre d'une agglomération d'environ 37 000 habitants. Au dernier recensement de 2019, la commune comptait 10 950 habitants appelés les Cantiliens. Chantilly est connue pour son château, qui accueille en son sein les collections du musée Condé, et pour sa crème fouettée. Elle est également reconnue au niveau international pour ses activités hippiques : outre son hippodrome, sur lequel se déroulent notamment deux courses hippiques, le prix du Jockey Club et le prix de Diane, la ville et ses environs abritent le plus grand centre d'entraînement de chevaux de course de France. Intimement liée à la famille de Montmorency du XVe au XVIIe siècle, puis à la famille de Condé du XVIIe au XIXe siècle, Chantilly se développe autour de son château et de ses dépendances. Longtemps constituée de quelques hameaux dispersés autour de son château, elle ne devient paroisse qu'en 1692, et son urbanisme remonte seulement au XVIIIe siècle. Elle devient, au début du XIXe siècle, un petit centre industriel pionnier, notamment dans la production de porcelaine et de dentelle, mais surtout un lieu privilégié de loisirs et de villégiature pour l'aristocratie et le milieu artistique, ainsi que le lieu de résidence d'une communauté anglaise, liée alors au monde du cheval. Aujourd'hui, la commune, située dans l'aire urbaine de Paris, voit 40 % de sa population active travailler en Île-de-France et ne présente pas de grandes entreprises sur son territoire. Avec ses centaines de milliers de touristes visitant son château et son parc, ainsi que son musée vivant du cheval, avec ses millions de visiteurs pour sa forêt, la ville se présente comme un des pôles touristiques les plus attrayants du nord de la région parisienne.
