- Η Θεία Ευχαριστία στην Καθολική Εκκλησία εορτάζεται ως "η πηγή και κορυφή" της χριστιανικής ζωής. Η Θεία Ευχαριστία λαμβάνει χώρα καθημερινά (εκτός από την Μεγάλη Παρασκευή, όταν η λειτουργία γίνεται τη Μεγάλη Πέμπτη) κατά τη διάρκεια της εορτής της Θείας Λειτουργίας, της ευχαριστιακής λειτουργίας. Ο όρος Θεία Ευχαριστία χρησιμοποιείται επίσης για το ψωμί και το κρασί όταν μεταβιβάζονται (η ουσία τους έχει αλλάξει) όπου σύμφωνα με την καθολική διδασκαλία περιέχεται το σώμα και το αίμα του Ιησού Χριστού. Επίσης η διδασκαλία της Καθολικής Εκκλησίας αναφέρει ότι «Στο Μυστικό Δείπνο, τη νύχτα που προδόθηκε, ο Σωτήρας μας καθιέρωσε την Ευχαριστιακή θυσία του Σώματος και του Αίματος Του». Το Ευλογημένο Μυστήριο είναι λατρευτικός όρος που χρησιμοποιείται στην Ρωμαιοκαθολική Εκκλησία για να αναφερθεί στο ευχαριστιακό είδος (το Σώμα και το Αίμα του Χριστού). (el)

Consecrated hosts are kept in a tabernacle after Mass, so that the Blessed Sacrament can be brought to the sick and dying outside the time of Mass. This makes possible also the practice of eucharistic adoration. Because Christ himself is present in the sacrament of the altar, he is to be honored with the worship of adoration.
