Guava (/ˈɡwɑːvə/) is a common tropical fruit cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions. The common guava Psidium guajava (lemon guava, apple guava) is a small tree in the myrtle family (Myrtaceae), native to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America. The name guava is also given to some other species in the genus Psidium such as strawberry guava (Psidium cattleyanum) and to the pineapple guava, Feijoa sellowiana. In 2019, 55 million tonnes of guavas were produced worldwide, led by India with 45% of the total. Botanically, guavas are berries.

Odtud se pěstování rozšířilo do dalších oblastí tropického pásma (Indie, do Středomoří a dále). Plody mají kulovitý až hruškovitý tvar. Povrch bývá hrbolatý nebo hladký, lesklý, hustě pokrytý tečkami. Dužina plodu je žlutavě bílá až červená, šťavnatá, výrazné vůně. Chutí připomíná fíky a hrušky. Obsahuje množství malých tvrdých semen. Do Česka se dováží nejen čerstvé, ale i konzervované. Ovoce kvajávy obsahuje asi 15 % cukrů. Má vysoký obsah vitaminu C – asi 5x více než citrony nebo pomeranče, vitaminu A a značné množství vápníku. Nezralé plody jsou zelené, plně dozrálé slámově žluté. Zralý plod se lehce poddá tlaku prstů. (cs)
