- Der Codex Washingtonianus (Gregory-Aland no. W oder 032; von Soden ε 014) ist eine griechische Handschrift des Neuen Testaments, die auf das 5. Jahrhundert datiert wird. Sie besteht aus den vier Evangelien auf 187 Pergamentblättern (21 × 14,3 cm) und ist die drittälteste erhaltene Evangelienhandschrift überhaupt. Die Evangelien sind in der Reihenfolge der westlichen Handschriften angeordnet (Matthäus, Johannes, Lukas, Markus) wie in Codex Bezae.Die Handschrift enthält eine ganzseitige farbige Miniatur der Evangelisten Johannes und Matthäus aus dem 7. Jahrhundert. Der Codex wird in der Freer Gallery of Art (Smithsonian Institution, Nr. 06.274) in Washington verwahrt. (de)

- El coleccionista de obras de arte e industrial estadounidense , en el año 1906 se encontraba en Guiza (Egipto). Allí compró a un mercader árabe unos manuscritos que vendía. El mercader dijo que procedían del monasterio Blanco cerca de Sohag.El Sr.Freer, recibió de la compra un bulto de pergamino quebradizo muy estropeado y por otro lado tres pergaminos en mejores condiciones. Pasado el tiempo este códice fue donado a la Galería Freer de Arte de la Institución Smithsoniana de Washington D.C.. Posteriormente se le llamó Códice Washingtoniano I de los Evangélios a una parte del hallazgo. Se le designó con la letra W. Y, la otra parte del hallazgo se le llamó Códice Washingtoniano II de los Evangelios. Se le denominó con la letra I. Considerándose el cuarto códice más importante después del Sinaítico, Vaticano y Alejandrino. (es)
