- Luke 22:43–44 is a passage in the Gospel of Luke describing Jesus' agony in the Garden and prayer, after which he receives strength from an angel, on the Mount of Olives prior to his betrayal and arrest. It is one of several passages which appear in most versions of the New Testament, but are absent in earlier manuscripts. The situation of Jesus, prior to the completion of his ministry, begging weakness to God to perform the difficult task has been compared to Exodus 3, wherein the prophet Moses speaks to God and pleads weakness when told to confront Pharaoh. The authenticity of the passage has been disputed by scholars since the second half of the 19th century. The verses are placed in double brackets in modern editions of the Greek text, and in a footnote in the RSV. (en)

- L'agonia di Gesù al Getsemani è un brano del Vangelo secondo Luca (22:43-44) in cui Gesù prega in un podere noto come Getsemani sul Monte degli Ulivi, e dopo la preghiera riceve forza da un angelo, prima del tradimento di Giuda e del suo arresto. Questo evento può essere considerato come il primo della Passione vera e propria di Gesù. Si tratta di uno dei diversi brani che compaiono nel Nuovo Testamento ma che mancano dai manoscritti più antichi. L'autenticità di questo brano è stata messa in discussione dagli studiosi sin dalla seconda metà del XIX secolo. Secondo gli studiosi, alcuni copisti apportarono tale aggiunta nel II e III secolo per contrastare la dottrina cristologica di un Gesù esclusivamente divino. I versetti sono posti tra doppie parentesi quadre nelle edizioni moderne del testo greco, a indicarne la dubbia autenticità. «Oggi alcune bibbie mettono il testo tra i versi di Luca, altre lo relegano in una nota a piè di pagina» e in altre «i versetti sono posti tra parentesi quadre, a indicare che i traduttori sono abbastanza sicuri che non facevano in origine parte del Vangelo di Luca». In de verzen 43 en 44 staat dat Jezus doodsbang was, 'zijn zweet in grote druppels als bloed op de grond viel' en hij gesterkt werd door een engel. Sedert de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw denken veel deskundigen dat het gedeelte oorspronkelijk niet bij dit evangelie hoorde.
