- Die Simbabwische Rugby-Union-Nationalmannschaft (englisch Zimbabwe national rugby union team) ist die Nationalmannschaft Simbabwes in der Sportart Rugby Union und repräsentiert das Land bei allen Länderspielen (Test Matches) der Männer. Sie trägt den Spitznamen Sables, nach der Rappenantilope (englisch sable antelope). Die organisatorische Verantwortung trägt der 1895 gegründete Verband (ZRU). Simbabwe wird vom Weltverband World Rugby in die dritte Stärkeklasse (third tier) eingeteilt und gilt als eine der stärkeren Nationalmannschaften Afrikas nach den Springboks aus Südafrika und den Welwitschias aus Namibia. Rugby verbreitete sich ab Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts überwiegend unter „weißen“ Siedlern, während die einheimische Bevölkerung zunächst weitgehend ausgeschlossen blieb. Die Verbandsauswahl der britischen Kolonie Südrhodesien (bzw. des 1965 einseitig unabhängig erklärten Rhodesiens) war jahrzehntelang in den Spielbetrieb des Nachbarlandes Südafrika integriert und empfing regelmäßig tourende Nationalmannschaften aus Übersee. Das erste Test Match des unabhängigen und völkerrechtlich anerkannten Simbabwe fand 1981 gegen Kenia statt. Bisher nahm Simbabwe an zwei Weltmeisterschaften teil, wobei es 1987 und 1991 jeweils alle Spiele in der Vorrunde verlor. Als Folge des wirtschaftlichen Niedergangs des Landes sank auch das Niveau des einheimischen Rugbysports. Seit 2000 nimmt Simbabwe an den Afrikameisterschaften teil, wobei 2012 der bisher einzige Titelgewinn gelang. Zwei simbabwische Spieler wurden in die World Rugby Hall of Fame aufgenommen. (de)

- La selección de rugby de Zimbabue es considerada como una selección de tercer nivel.A pesar de ésta clasificación,el equipo ha participado en actividades de rugby desde el siglo XIX(cuando el país se llamaba Rhodesia del Sur) con encuentros internacionales jugados desde la década de 1910 y supieron ser protagonistas en el deporte hasta los años 80.En su historial,se destacan encuentros con grandes resultados frente a otras naciones y potencias del rugby: consiguió una victoria y un empate frente a los All Blacks en 1949(no hubo jugadores maoríes debido a las reglas del apartheid).Contra los neozelandeses jugaron un total de 5 encuentros y tienen el honor de ser parte de las únicas 8 naciones que lograron vencer a Los All Blacks. Más tarde se midieron frente a Los Pumas argentinos en 1965 obteniendo la victoria por 17-12 en su único enfrentamiento a la fecha. Lograron otra victoria frente a Italia en 1973 (42-4) y se añade a su historial un empate frente a Australia y otra igualdad ante Francia siendo sus mejores registros a la fecha. El equipo africano se conoce con el nombre de Sables. En 1980,el país de Rhodesia del Sur pasa a llamarse Zimbabue. En este período,el conjunto africano mantuvo su protagonismo y cosechó victorias entre las que destacan las obtenidas frente a Unión Soviética,España y sus rivales de Namibia. La selección participó en las primeras dos copas del mundo. La primera en 1987 fue por invitación y la siguiente por vía de clasificación en 1991. Zimbabue no ganó ninguno de los partidos. Tras la copa del mundo de 1991,la selección de Zimbabue experimentó un fuerte retroceso deportivo,en gran parte, debido a la crisis política y económica del país africano. While sides representing the colony of Rhodesia have played as early as 1910, the modern day Zimbabwe rugby team did not play its first test until 1981, against Kenya. Zimbabwe has competed in two World Cups, in 1987 and 1991, in place of South Africa, who were sanctioned by the IRB at the time due to apartheid. Zimbabwe is categorized as Tier 3 Development One, which prioritizes Zimbabwe over other nations due to historical success as well as popularity of rugby in the nation. During the colonial days, the team had an association with touring British Isles teams, who regularly played matches against them in their tours of South Africa; the earliest tour being in 1910 when Zimbabwe was known as Southern Rhodesia. The side has also played New Zealand on several occasions, the first being in the late 1920s; Zimbabwe is the only non-Tier 1 nation to defeat the All Blacks, as the Southern Rhodesia side defeated New Zealand in 1947. Zimbabwe currently compete in the Africa Gold Cup, considered the equivalent of the Six Nations in Africa. Zimbabwe have won the competition once, in 2012 Africa Cup, and finished runners up in 2013, 2014, and 2015. Excluding the Springboks, Zimbabwe is one of only 3 nations in Africa to qualify for the Rugby World Cup, the others being Namibia and the Ivory Coast.
