- Motocyklový motor, motor pro pohon motocyklu, je zpravidla lehký spalovací motor s jedním až čtyřmi válci, nejčastěji vzduchem chlazený. Může být dvoutaktní nebo nověji i čtyřtaktní. Vzácněji se však používají i jiné typy motorů, jako je Wankelův motor nebo elektromotory. Motor je umístěn ve středu trojúhelníkového rámu, skútry mívají motor pod sedlem. Některé starší mopedy (jako například VéloSoleX) měly třecí pohon přední pneumatiky, jinak motocyklový motor vždy pohání zadní kolo. Jeho mechanická energie se přenáší na poháněné kolo pásem (jen u nejstarších motocyklů), řetězem (nejčastěji válečkovým) nebo hřídelí. Většina motorů má převodovku se dvěma až šesti převodovými stupni. Především u těžkých cestovních strojů (například Honda GL1600) a u motocyklů vybavených postranním vozíkem (např. IMZ-Ural) se vyskytuje i zpátečka. Změna převodového stupně se obvykle provádí pomocí nožního pedálu a manuální spojky, některé starší modely měly krátkou ruční páku. Některé motocykly mají automatické (Honda DN-01) nebo poloautomatické převodovky. Mimo území Spojených států se objemy motorů pohybovaly od 50 do 650 cm3, ale od roku 1968 se i v Evropě staly běžné motocykly s větším zdvihovým objemem. More recently, some have automatic or semi-automatic gearboxes, and some using CVT transmission. Outside the United States, engine capacities typically ranged from about 50 cc to 650 cc; but in Europe since 1968 motorcycles with larger capacities have become common, ranging as high as the Triumph Rocket 3's 2,300 cubic centimetres (140 cu in) engine. In the United States, V-twin engined motorcycles with capacities of 850 cc or more have been the norm since the 1920s. (en)
