- El telecine és un procés per convertir a un estàndard de TV, una imatge registrada en un suport fotoquímic, una imatge sobre pel·lícula cinematogràfica, una imatge electrònica o una imatge de vídeo. També rep el nom de telecine l'equipament mecànic que s'usa amb aquesta finalitat. Cal convertir les pel·lícules que s'han produït sobre cel·luloide per poder emetre-les per televisió. De fet, la paraula telecine prové de la contracció de televisió i cinema.També cal realitzar aquest procés per poder publicar una pel·lícula cinematogràfica sobre suports electrònics com discs DVD o discs Blu-ray. i poder-los veure amb equips de vídeo estàndard, com ara televisors, reproductors de vídeo cassette (VCR), equips de Home-Cinema o fins i tot en els ordinadors.
