- Německo na Letních olympijských hrách v roce 2012 v Londýně reprezentovala výprava 392 sportovců a 279 členů doprovodu v 23 sportech. Jednalo se o nejmenší výpravu Německa od sjednocení, a to z důvodu že se nekvalifikovali v kolektivních sportech. Německo se nezúčastnilo soutěží ve fotbale, házené a basketbalu. (cs)

- Deutschland nahm in London an den Olympischen Spielen 2012 (27. Juli bis 12. August) teil. Es war die insgesamt 23. Teilnahme an Olympischen Sommerspielen. Vom Deutschen Olympischen Sportbund (DOSB) waren 392 Athleten in 23 Sportarten nominiert worden. Weitere 16 Sportler wurden als sogenannte Ersatzathleten mit P-Akkreditierung nominiert, sie wurden jedoch nicht im olympischen Dorf untergebracht und zählten nicht zum offiziellen Aufgebot. Der DOSB benannte die Teilnehmer in drei Nominierungsrunden. Am 31. Mai wurden zunächst 85 Athleten in elf Sportarten nominiert. In der zweiten Nominierungsrunde am 25. Juni wurden weitere 79 Athleten in sieben Sportarten nominiert. Die abschließende Nominierungsrunde fand am 4. Juli statt und umfasste 216 Athleten in zehn Sportarten. Am 7. und 8. Juli 2012 wurden die 13 qualifizierten Reitsportler benannt. Ebenfalls am 8. Juli wurden abschließend zwei Leichtathleten und zwölf Hallen-Volleyballer namentlich benannt. Bereits am 4. Juli wurden zudem 279 Betreuer benannt, die das deutsche Aufgebot nach London begleiten. Chef de Mission ist Michael Vesper. Das deutsche Aufgebot von 392 Athleten war das kleinste seit der Wiedervereinigung, was vor allem der geringen Zahl der qualifizierten Mannschaftssportarten geschuldet war. Die Wettbewerbe im Fußball, Handball und Basketball fanden ohne deutsche Beteiligung statt, so dass in 23 der insgesamt 26 Sportarten Athleten antraten. Bei der Eröffnungszeremonie trug Hockeyspielerin Natascha Keller die deutsche Fahne und führte das Feld der deutschen Athleten an; zum Fahnenträger bei der Abschlusszeremonie wurde der Schlagmann des siegreichen Deutschland-Achters, Kristof Wilke, auserkoren. - Germany competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's sixth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics after its reunification in 1990. The German Olympic Sports Confederation (German: Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund, DOSB) sent the nation's smallest delegation to the Games since its reunification. A total of 392 athletes, 218 men and 174 women, competed in 23 sports, and were nominated by DOSB on four occasions. Germany left London with a total of 44 medals (11 gold, 20 silver, and 13 bronze), finishing sixth in the overall medal standings. Eight of these medals were awarded to the team in athletics and canoeing, six in cycling, and four each in equestrian and judo. Seven German athletes won more than a single Olympic medal in London. In team sports, the men's field hockey team managed to defend its Olympic title from Beijing, winning the gold medal against the Netherlands. For the first time since 1932, Germany did not win an Olympic medal in swimming, except for the open water marathon. Among the nation's medalists were equestrian rider Michael Jung, who led his eventing team to win its first Olympic gold medal in London, and track cyclist Kristina Vogel, who claimed the title in the women's team sprint, along with Miriam Welte. Discus thrower and pre-Olympic favorite Robert Harting celebrated his gold medal victory by ripping off his shirt and then running a hurdle lap. Meanwhile, gymnast Marcel Nguyen won two silver medals in men's all-around and men's parallel bars exercises. Table tennis player Dimitrij Ovtcharov led his team to win a bronze medal in the men's event.
