- Le mandala du Monde de la matrice (sanskrit : गर्भकोस-धातु, romanisation IAST : garbhakoṣa-dhātu ; chinois : 胎藏界 ; pinyin : tāizàng jiè ; translittéré en japonais en taizō-kai (胎蔵界)), est une figure iconographique du Bouddhisme vajrayāna (véhicule de diamant, également appelé bouddhisme tantrique et bouddhisme ésotérique. Ce mandala est similaire à celui du « monde du Diamant » (sanskrit : वज्रधातु, IAST : Vajradhātu ; 金刚界 / 金剛界, Jīngāng jiè ; qui donne la translittération japonaise, kongō-kai (金剛界)). Dans le bouddhisme ésotérique, il est censé révéler le « corps de l'extase parfaite » (sambhogakaya) du bouddha Vairocana, caractérisé par l'éclat et la vacuité. Il est couramment rencontré dans le bouddhisme ésotérique japonais, en particulier l'école Shingon et certaines branches de l'école Tendai. Apposé au mur Est des temples, il représente la matière et les cinq éléments (terre, eau, feu, air, éther), la matrice, le soleil levant, la compassion, le féminin. - In Vajrayana Buddhism, the Womb Realm (Sanskrit: garbhakoṣadhātu, Traditional Chinese: 胎蔵界; Pinyin: Tāizāngjiè; Romanji: taizōkai) is the metaphysical space inhabited by the Five Compassion Buddhas. The Womb Realm is based on the Mahavairocana Tantra. The name of the mandala derives from chapter 2 of the sutra, where it is said that the buddha Mahāvairocana revealed the mandala's secret teachings to his disciple Vajrasattva from his "womb of compassion". In other translations, the term Matrix Realm or Matrix Mandala are used. The Womb Realm is a very popular subject for mandalas, and along with the Diamond Realm (vajradhātu) Mandala forms the Mandala of the Two Realms. This mandala, along with the Diamond Realm, form the core of Chinese Tangmi and Japanese Tendai and Shingon Buddhist rituals, including abhisheka "initiation". In this ritual, new initiates are blindfolded and asked to toss a flower upon a mandala. Where the flower lands helps decide which Buddhist figure the student should devote themselves to. In traditional Tangmi and Shingon halls, the Womb Realm Mandala is hung on the east wall, symbolizing the young stage of Mahāvairocana.
