- Le mandala des deux royaumes (両界曼荼羅, Ryōkai mandara), aussi connu sous le nom mandala des deux divisions (両部曼荼羅, Ryōbu mandara), est un ensemble de deux mandalas représentant à la fois les cinq bouddha de la sagesse du royaume du diamant comme les cinq rois de la sagesse du royaume . Le nombre de divinités disposées autour du cœur varie, mais peut se monter à deux cent quatorze. Le royaume de diamant représente le principe cosmique immuable du Bouddha, tandis que le royaume de la matrice représente la manifestation, active physique de Bouddha dans le monde naturel. Les mandalas sont donc considérés comme une expression concentrées de l'ensemble du dharma dans le Bouddhisme Mahayana et sont à la racine de l'enseignement du Vajrayana. Les temples japonais Shingon en particulier, mettent souvent bien en évidence les mandalas des deux royaumes montés perpendiculairement à la plate-forme d'image sur l'autel central. Les deux mandalas auraient évolué séparément en Inde et se seraient réunis pour la première fois en Chine, peut-être par Hui-kuo, le maître de Kūkai. (fr)
- The Mandala of the Two Realms (Traditional Chinese: 両界曼荼羅; Pinyin: Liǎngjiè màntúluó; Romanji: Ryōkai mandara), also known as the Mandala of the Two Divisions (Traditional Chinese: 両部曼荼羅; Pinyin: Liǎngbù màntúluó; Romanji: Ryōbu mandara), is a set of two mandalas depicting both the Five Wisdom Buddhas of the Diamond Realm as well as the Five Wisdom Kings of the Womb Realm. The number of deities arranged around the cores varies, but may range as high as 414. The Diamond Realm represents the unchanging cosmic principle of the Buddha, while the Womb Realm depicts the active, physical manifestation of Buddha in the natural world. The mandalas are thus considered a compact expression of the entirety of the Dharma in Mahayana Buddhism, and form the root of the Vajrayana teachings. Chinese Tangmi and Japanese Shingon and Tendai temples, in particular, often prominently display the Mandalas of the Two Realms mounted at right angles to the image platform on the central altar. The two mandalas are believed to have evolved separately in India, and were joined together for the first time in China, perhaps by Kūkai's teacher Hui-kuo. (en)
