- Leyland Motors Limited (později známý jako Leyland Motor Corporation) byl britský výrobce osobních automobilů, nákladních automobilů, autobusů a trolejbusů. Společnost vstoupila do oblasti výroby osobních automobilů akvizicemi automobilek Triumph (1960) a Rover (1967). To dalo později jméno celé korporaci, když se Leyland Motors spojil v roce 1968 s automobilkou British Motor Holdings a vytvořil tak korporaci British Leyland Motor Corporation. Když vláda podnik v roce 1975 znárodnila, rozhodla v roce 1978 o změně názvu na konečné British Leyland. British Leyland pak ještě změnil svůj název na jednoduchou zkratku BL a nakonec v roce 1986 na Rover Group. British Leyland later changed its name to simply BL, then in 1986 to Rover Group. After the various vehicle manufacturing businesses of BL and its successors went defunct or were divested, the following marques survived: Jaguar and Land Rover, now built by Jaguar Land Rover owned by TATA Motors; MG, now built by MG Motor, and Mini, now built by BMW. Leyland under ledningen av Donald Stokes blev under 1960-talet en framgångsrik lastbils- och busstillverkare och stärkt av framgångar köptes Standard-Triumph och Rover. Leyland Motors bildade 1968 British Leyland Motor Corporation då man gick samman med British Motor Holdings (tidigare British Motor Corporation).
