- El «mes de historia LGBT», en inglés, LGBT History Month, es una celebración de un mes de duración de la historia de gays, lesbianas, bisexuales y transgénero, y la historia de los derechos LGBT y los movimientos de derechos civiles relacionados. En Estados Unidos se celebra durante el mes de octubre, de forma que incluya el Coming Out Day el 11 de octubre. En el Reino Unido, se celebra en febrero, para coincidir con la abolición en 2005 del artículo 28, que prohibía a las escuelas tratar temas LGBT o incluso aconsejar a los niños y jóvenes LGBT o en dudas sobre su sexualidad. - LGBT History Month is an annual month-long observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of the gay rights and related civil rights movements. It was founded in 1994 by Missouri high-school history teacher Rodney Wilson. LGBT History Month provides role models, builds community, and represents a civil rights statement about the contributions of the LGBTQ+ community. As of 2022, LGBT History Month is a month-long celebration that is specific to Australia, Canada, Cuba, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, United Kingdom and the US. In the United States, Canada, and Australia, it is celebrated in October to coincide with National Coming Out Day on 11 October and to commemorate the first and second marches on Washington in 1979 and 1987 for LGBT rights. In Hungary and the United Kingdom it is observed during February; in the UK this coincides with a major celebration of the 2003 abolition of Section 28. In Berlin, the capital of Germany, it is known as Queer History Month and is celebrated in May. (en)
- Een lhbt-geschiedenismaand is in enkele Westerse landen een themamaand waarin aandacht wordt besteed aan de geschiedenis van homoseksuele mannen, lesbische vrouwen en biseksuele en transgender mensen. De eerste lhbt-geschiedenismaand vond in 1994 in de Verenigde Staten plaats en sinds 2021 is er ook een dergelijke maand in Nederland. In Nederland, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Hongarije wordt deze themamaand in februari gehouden en in Berlijn in juni, de maand die vanwege de herdenking van de Stonewall-rellen in veel landen als de Pridemaand geldt. In de Verenigde Staten, Canada en Australië is de lhbt-geschiedenismaand in oktober, de maand waarin ook de jaarlijkse Coming-Outdag valt. In Groenland en Brazilië wordt tegelijk met de jaarlijkse Gay Pride Parade in de zomer aandacht aan de lhbt-geschiedenis besteed. (nl)
