- For about a thousand years, in obedience to interpretations of specific Bible passages, pictorial depictions of God in Western Christianity had been avoided by Christian artists. At first only the Hand of God, often emerging from a cloud, was portrayed. Gradually, portrayals of the head and later the whole figure were depicted, and by the time of the Renaissance artistic representations of God the Father were freely used in the Western Church. God the Father can be seen in some late Byzantine Cretan School icons, and ones from the borders of the Catholic and Orthodox worlds, under Western influence, but after the Russian Orthodox Church came down firmly against depicting him in 1667, he can hardly be seen in Russian art. Protestants generally disapprove of the depiction of God the Father, and originally did so strongly. (en)
- Pendant environ mille ans, en obéissant à des interprétations de passages spécifiques de la Bible, les représentations de Dieu dans la culture ont été évitées par les peintres chrétiens (aniconisme). Au début, les seules représentions de Dieu le Père étaient faites d’une main au sein d’un nuage. Progressivement, les représentations de Dieu le Père se développent afin de représenter la tête puis le corps entier est dépeint. À la fin de la Renaissance, les représentations de Dieu le Père se sont largement diffusées au sein de l’Église occidentale. Ces images sont progressivement reprises dans le cinéma, et dans la publicité. (fr)
- Durante cerca de mil anos, em obediência a interpretações de passagens específicas da Bíblia, a representação pictórica de Deus no cristianismo ocidental foi evitada pelos artistas cristãos. De início, apenas a “Mão de Deus” (Manus Dei), muitas vezes emergindo de uma nuvem, foi retratada. Gradualmente, imagens da cabeça e, posteriormente, a figura inteira foram retratados, e na época da Renascença representações artísticas de Deus, o Pai eram livremente usados na Igreja Ocidental. “Deus, o Pai” pode ser visto em alguns ícones bizantinos tardios da Escola cretense e aqueles das fronteiras dos mundos católico e ortodoxo, sob influência ocidental, mas depois que a Igreja Ortodoxa Russa ficou firmemente contra essa representação em 1667, tal imagem dificilmente pode ser vista na arte russa. Os protestantes geralmente desaprovaram a representação de Deus, o Pai, pois originalmente se opuseram a isso na arte. (pt)
- Близько тисячі років, дотримуючись тлумачень конкретних біблійних уривків, християнські художники уникали зображень Бога в західному християнстві. Спочатку змальовували лише Руку Божу, яка часто виходила з хмари. Поступово змальовувались зображення голови, а згодом і всієї фігури, а до епохи Відродження художні подання Бога-Отця вільно використовувалися в Західній Церкві. Бога Отця можна побачити на деяких пізньовізантійських іконах Критської школи, а також на іконах із католицького та православного світів під впливом Заходу, але після того, як Російська православна церква твердо виступила проти його зображення в 1667 році, його навряд чи можна побачити в російському мистецтві. Протестанти, як правило, не схвалюють зображення Бога-Отця і спочатку дуже рішуче. (uk)
