- Der 93. Kongress der Vereinigten Staaten beschreibt die Legislaturperiode von Repräsentantenhaus und Senat in den Vereinigten Staaten zwischen dem 3. Januar 1973 und dem 3. Januar 1975. Alle Abgeordneten des Repräsentantenhauses sowie ein Drittel der Senatoren (Klasse II) waren im November 1972 bei den Kongresswahlen gewählt worden. In beiden Kammern ergab sich eine demokratische Mehrheit, die in Opposition zu den Republikanern stand. Diese stellten während dieser Zeit mit Richard Nixon bzw. Gerald Ford die Präsidenten. Während der Legislaturperioden kam es in beiden Kammern durch Todesfälle bzw. Rücktritte zu einigen Veränderungen, die aber nichts an den Mehrheitsverhältnissen änderten. Viele Rücktritte im Repräsentantenhaus erfolgten am 31. Dezember 1974 zwei Tage vor Ablauf der Amtszeit. Daher waren am Ende der Legislaturperiode 18 Sitze vakant. Der Kongress tagte in der amerikanischen Bundeshauptstadt Washington, D.C. Die Sitzverteilung im Repräsentantenhaus basierte auf der Volkszählung von 1970. (de)
- The 93rd United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, DC from January 3, 1973, to January 3, 1975, during the last 18 months of Richard Nixon's presidency, and the first 6 months of Gerald Ford's. This Congress was the first (and, to date, only) Congress with more than two Senate Presidents (the Vice President of the United States), in this case, three. After the resignation of Spiro Agnew, Gerald Ford was appointed under the authority of the newly ratified 25th Amendment. Ford became president the next year and Nelson Rockefeller was appointed in his place. The apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives was based on the Nineteenth Census of the United States in 1970. Both chambers had a Democratic majority. This is the earliest Congress to feature a member of the current 117th Congress, Representative Don Young (R-AK), who served until he died in 2022. (en)
