- Das Upper Canada College (UCC) ist eine private Schule für Jungen gelegen im Stadtzentrum Torontos, Kanada. Schüler zwischen Kindergarten- und der Zwölften Klasse studieren im Rahmen des International-Baccalaureate-Programm. Das 1829 gegründete UCC ist die älteste unabhängige Schule in der Provinz Ontario, die drittälteste im Land und wird häufig als die prestigestärkste Schule in Kanada bezeichnet da die Schule viele Absolventen hervorbringt, die in hohe und einflussreiche Position in Wirtschaft und Politik unterkommen. Das College entspricht dem System der public school. Heute ist UCC völlig unabhängig und die Schüler und Lehrkörper sind in den kulturellen und ökonomischen Hintergründen verschieden. - Upper Canada College (UCC) is an elite, all-boys, private school in Toronto, Ontario, operating under the International Baccalaureate program. The college is widely described as the country's most prestigious preparatory school, and has produced many notable graduates. UCC has 1,200 students and is a highly selective school, accepting approximately 15% of all applicants in 2019. The school attracts the best and brightest students from all around the world and has a generous financial aid program, with more than $5 million being awarded annually to Canadian citizens. The secondary school segment is divided into ten houses; eight are for day students and the remaining two are for boarding students. Aside from the main structure, with its dominant clock tower, the Toronto campus has a number of sports facilities, staff and faculty residences, and buildings for other purposes. UCC also owns and operates an outdoor education campus in Norval, Ontario. It is the oldest independent school in the province of Ontario and the third oldest in Canada. UCC was founded in 1829 by Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada, Sir John Colborne, based upon Elizabeth College, Guernsey. After facing closure by the government on more than one occasion, UCC became fully independent in 1900, nine years after moving to its present location. Today, UCC is fully independent and the students and faculty are more diverse in terms of cultural and economic backgrounds. Fundada em 1829, a UCC é a mais antiga da província de Ontário, a terceira mais antiga do país, e é freqüentemente descrita como a de maior prestígio entre as escolas de preparação para a universidade no Canadá, tendo já formado muitas pessoas da elite, poder e riqueza do Canadá.
