- Η British Basketball League (BBL) αποτελεί την κορυφαία επαγγελματική οργανωτική αρχή της καλαθοσφαίρισης ανδρών στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο. Εκτός από το ετήσιο Πρωτάθλημα, η BBL διεξάγει δύο επιπλέον διοργανώσεις, το και το . Η BBL δεν θα πρέπει να συγχέεται με την English Basketball League (EBL) ή την (SBC), οι οποίες αποτελούν το δεύτερο επίπεδο της ιεραρχίας των κατηγοριών καλαθοσφαίρισης στη χώρα. Προς το παρόν δεν υπάρχει σύστημα προβιβασμού-υποβιβασμού ανάμεσά τους, καθώς η BBL λειτουργεί σαν σύστημα franchise, συνεπώς οι σύλλογοι «αγοράζουν» το δικαίωμα συμμετοχής τους σε αυτήν. Η BBL απαρτίζεται από 12 ομάδες που εδρεύουν στην Αγγλία και τη Σκωτία. Στις δύο δεκαετίες ύπαρξης του Πρωταθλήματος, 13 διαφορετικές ομάδες έχουν κατακτήσει το τρόπαιο. Πρωταθλητές για το 2010 αναδείχθηκαν οι (Everton Tigers), ενώ οι (Guildford Heat) αποτελούν τον παραδοσιακότερο εκπρόσωπο της χώρας στα ευρωπαϊκά πρωταθλήματα, με τελευταία συμμετοχή τους εκείνη στο ULEB Cup κατά την περίοδο 2007-08. Τα μέλη της BBL αποτελούν συν-ιδιοκτήτες της εταιρείας «The Basketball League Ltd», η λειτουργία της οποίας επιβλέπεται από εκλεγμένο πρόεδρο. Σημερινός πρόεδρος είναι ο Πωλ Μπλέικ (Paul Blake), Διευθύνων Σύμβουλος της ομάδας (Newcastle Eagles). Τα γραφεία της ένωσης βρίσκονται στην πόλη Λέστερ, έδρα της αρχαιότερης ομάδας της χώρας, των (Leicester Riders). Το διάστημα 1999–2017, η BBL αποτελούσε μέλος της ULEB. (el)

- The British Basketball League (BBL) is a men's professional basketball league in the United Kingdom and represents the highest level of play in the country. The league is contested by 10 teams from England and Scotland. There are no clubs however from Wales or Northern Ireland. The BBL runs three additional knockout competitions alongside the BBL Championship which are the BBL Cup, the BBL Trophy and the end-of-season BBL Play-offs. The BBL sits above the National Basketball League and the Scottish Basketball Championship which effectively form the second tier of British basketball. There is currently no automatic promotion or relegation between the English and Scottish leagues and the BBL because of the franchise system in use in the BBL although several clubs have been successful in making the step up from the EBL in recent years. The 10 member franchises of the BBL jointly own the league and a chairman is elected by the teams to oversee league operations. The head offices are located in Leicester where the country's oldest team the Leicester Riders are also based.
