Raised in Decatur, Georgia, Simmons was signed to high-profile producer Jim Jonsin's Rebel Rock Entertainment imprint, in 2006. Two years later, Jonsin and Simmons signed a joint venture deal, with fellow rapper T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records, under the aegis of Atlantic Records.
