- نشأت لجنة الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية حول الحقوق المدنية (بالإنكليزية: United Stated Commission on Civil Rights) عام 1957 كهيئة مستقلة للحكومة الاتحادية للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ومدعومة من قبل الحزبين الرئيسيين فيها، وكُلّفت بمسؤولية تحري قضايا الحقوق المدنية في أمريكا، والتبليغ عنها وطرح توصيات تخصها. حسب القسم 1975 (d) من الفصل 42 من قانون الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، أُنهيت كامل السُلطة القضائية لهذه اللجنة في الثلاثين من شهر سمبتمبر/أيلول عام 1996، ولم يُقرّ الكونغرس على أي تشريع جديد، ولكنه استمر في إقرار المخصصات. - The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights (CCR) is a bipartisan, independent commission of the United States federal government, created by the Civil Rights Act of 1957 during the Eisenhower administration, that is charged with the responsibility for investigating, reporting on, and making recommendations concerning civil rights issues in the United States. Specifically, the CCR investigates allegations of discrimination based on race, sex, national origin, disability. Since 2021, Norma V. Cantu has served as chair of the CCR. Pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 1975d, all statutory authority for the commission terminated on September 30, 1996, and Congress has not passed new legislation, but has continued to pass appropriations. (en)
