- Als Jocs Olímpics d'Estiu de 1988 celebrats a la ciutat de Seül (Corea del Sud) es disputaren vuit proves de vela, tres en categoria masculina, una en femenina i quatre en mixta. La competició es realitzà entre els dies 20 i 27 de setembre de 1988 a la zona de regates de la mar Groga. Participaren un total de 375 regatistes, entre ells 331 homes i 44 dones, de 60 comitès nacionals diferents. (ca)

With the exception of 1904 and possibly the canceled 1916 Summer Olympics, sailing has always been included on the Olympic schedule.The Sailing program of 1988 consisted of a total of eight sailing classes (disciplines). For each class seven races were scheduled from 20 September 1988 to 27 September 1988 of the coast of Busan and was the first time that a separate event was allocated exclusively for women (sailed in the 470 class). - Zeilen is een van de sporten die beoefend werden tijdens de Olympische Zomerspelen 1988 in Seoel. De zeilwedstrijden vonden plaats in de bij de stad Busan. Er werd in acht klassen om de medailles werd gestreden. Voor het eerst namen de vrouwen in een eigen klasse, de 470, deel aan de zeilwedstrijden. De mannen streden in drie klassen en er waren vier open klassen. Jan Boersma uit de Nederlandse Antillen veroverde de eerste Olympische medaille ooit voor zijn land; zilver bij het plankzeilen.Zowel België als Nederland behaalden op deze Spelen geen medailles bij het zeilen. - Zawody zostały przeprowadzone w ośmiu konkurencjach. Mężczyźni rywalizowali w klasie 470 i w klasie Lechner (windsurfing), panie rywalizowały w klasie 470. Pozostałe pięć konkurencji zostało rozegranych w formule open. Zawody zostały rozegrane między 20 a 27 września 1988 roku. W zawodach wystartowało 375 zawodników (331 mężczyzn oraz 44 kobiety) z 60 krajów. (pl)

Соревнования по парусному спорту проводились в 8 дисциплинах, из них 3 среди мужчин, 4 в открытых классах, и один был впервые введен в программу для женщин.
