- يشير مصطلح الزراعة البلاستيكية إلى ممارسات تُستخدم فيها المواد بلاستيكية في التطبيقات الزراعية. وغالبًا ما يشار إلى المواد البلاستيكية بحد ذاتها على نطاق واسع باسم «إيه جي بلاستيك». تشتمل اللدائن الزراعية البلاستيكية على أفلام تبخير التربة وأنابيب الري بالتنقيط وأصص الشتل وأكياس السيلاج، ولكن غالبًا ما يستخدم المصطلح لوصف جميع أنواع أغطية النباتات/ التربة المصنوعة من البلاستيك. وتتراوح هذه الأغطية من فيلم الغطاء العضوي البلاستيكي وأغطية الخطوط والأنفاق ذات السقف العالي والمنخفض (بولي تونلز) إلى الدفيئات الزراعية البلاستيكية. يُعد متعدد الإيثيلين (PE/ بّي إي) هو الفيلم البلاستيكي الذي يستخدمه غالبية المزارعين بسبب كلفته اليسيرة ولدونته وسهولة تصنيعه. ويوجد بأشكال مختلفة من حيث الثخانة، مثل الشكل قليل الثخانة (إل دي بّي إي) وكذلك الشكل قليل الثخانة الخطي (إل إل دي بّي إي). وهي خاصية يمكن تعديلها عن طريق إضافة عناصر معينة إلى البلاستيك ما يعطيه خواص مفيدة لنمو النبات مثل تقليل فقدان الماء وتثبيت الأشعة فوق البنفسجية لتبريد التربة ومنع الحشرات والتخلص من الإشعاع النشط في التمثيل الضوئي بهدف منع نمو الأعشاب الضارة، وعتامة الأشعة تحت الحمراء، وجعله مضادً للرشح/ مضادًا للضباب، والفلورية. - La plasticulture est l'ensemble des techniques agricoles qui font appel à des matières plastiques. Le terme s'applique plus particulièrement aux techniques de couverture du sol ou des plantes à l'aide de films en polyéthylène (PE), qu'il s'agisse de paillis plastique, de couvertures flottantes, de ou de serres en matière plastique.La plasticulture comprend bien d'autres techniques aussi variées que les films employés pour la fumigation des sols, les films étirables pour le banderolage des balles de pailles et fourrages, les tuyaux pour l'irrigation en goutte-à-goutte, les pots et bacs utilisés en pépinières, et les bâches et sacs pour ensilage. - The term plasticulture refers to the practice of using plastic materials in agricultural applications. The plastic materials themselves are often and broadly referred to as "ag plastics". Plasticulture ag plastics include soil fumigation film, irrigation drip tape/tubing, plastic plant packaging cord, nursery pots and bales, but the term is most often used to describe all kinds of plastic plant/soil coverings. Such coverings range from plastic mulch film, row coverings, high and low tunnels (polytunnels), to plastic greenhouses. Plastic used in agriculture was expected to include 6.7 million tons of plastic in 2019 or 2% of global plastic production. Plastic used in agriculture is hard to recycle because of contamination by agricultural chemicals. Moreover, plastic degradation into microplastics is damaging to soil health, microorganisms and beneficial organisms like earthworms. Current science is not clear if there are negative impacts on food or once food grown in plasticulture is eaten by humans. Because of these impacts, some governments, like the European Union under the Circular Economy Action Plan, are beginning to regulate its use and plastic waste produced on farms. (en)
- Plastikultura adalah praktik penggunaan bahan berbasis plastik di dalam usaha pertanian. Bahan plastik sendiri merupakan bahan yang memiliki aplikasi yang cukup luas di berbagai bidang. Namun dalam plastikultura, plastik digunakan sebagai bahan yang berperan penting dalam menunjang pertumbuhan tanaman, seperti plastik pelapis sebagai mulsa, penggunaan plastik transparan untuk fumigasi tanah secara termal, penggunaan plastik sebagai bahan pembuat pipa penyalur air dan nutrisi dalam praktik hidroponik, penggunaan plastik sebagai penampung media tanam yang juga ada pada hidroponik, pembuatan rumah tanaman dari plastik, dan sebagainya. Polietilen (PE) adalah jenis plastik pelapis yang digunakan oleh sebagian besar petani karena terjangkau, fleksibel, dan mudah diproduksi. PE tersedia dalam berbagai ketebalan, mampu dimodifikasi untuk memberikan sifat tertentu yang menguntungkan tanaman seperti meningkatkan kepadatan untuk mengurangi kehilangan air, meningkatkan kebeningan untuk dijadikan alat fumigasi, pengaturan kadar campuran dan warna plastik untuk melewatkan cahaya pada spektrum tertentu, pelapisan berfluoresensi untuk mempermudah perawatan di malam hari (misal pada tanaman yang berbunga di malam hari), dan sebagainya.
