- The level of support for evolution among scientists, the public, and other groups is a topic that frequently arises in the creation–evolution controversy, and touches on educational, religious, philosophical, scientific, and political issues. The subject is especially contentious in countries where significant levels of non-acceptance of evolution by the general population exists, but evolution is taught at public schools and universities. Nearly all (around 97%) of the scientific community accepts evolution as the dominant scientific theory of biological diversity, with 87% accepting that evolution occurs due to natural processes, such as natural selection. Scientific associations have strongly rebutted and refuted the challenges to evolution proposed by intelligent design proponents. There are religious sects and denominations in several countries for whom the theory of evolution is in conflict with creationism that is central to their beliefs, and who therefore reject it: in the United States, South Africa, India, Muslim world, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, and Brazil, with smaller followings in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Japan, Italy, Germany, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. - Il livello di supporto all'evoluzione tra gli scienziati è una tematica legata al dibattito tra creazionismo ed evoluzionismo che tocca questioni educative, religiose, filosofiche, scientifiche e politiche. La materia è particolarmente controversa nei paesi in cui esistono livelli significativi di non accettazione dell'evoluzione da parte della popolazione, ma nei quali l'evoluzione viene insegnata nelle scuole pubbliche e nelle università. Quasi tutta (circa il 97%) la comunità scientifica accetta l'evoluzione come teoria scientifica dominante per spiegare le origini della diversità biologica. Le associazioni scientifiche hanno fortemente confutato le critiche all'evoluzione proposte dai sostenitori del disegno intelligente. (it)
- O nível de apoio à evolução entre cientistas, o público em geral e outros grupos é um tópico que surge frequentemente na controvérsia da criação vs. evolução e toca em questões educativas, religiosas, filosóficas, científicas e políticas. O assunto é primariamente contencioso nos Estados Unidos da América. No entanto, é também importante em outros países onde criacionistas advogam o ensino do criacionismo como alternativa válida à evolução, ou retratam a evolução como um paradigma científico inadequado. Embora na comunidade científica haja acordo quase universal que as evidências da evolução são avassaladoras, e que o consenso científico apoiando a síntese evolutiva moderna é praticamente absoluto, criacionistas têm assegurado que existe controvérsia e desacordo científico significativo sobre a validade da evolução.
