- La GUADEC (GNOME User and Developer European Conference en anglès) és una conferència anual d'abast europeu centrada en el desenvolupament i promoció de l'entorn d'escriptori GNOME. La primera GUADEC va ser organitzada per en Mathieu Lacage com un acte puntual i atragué al voltant de 70 col·laboradors del GNOME. Fou el primer cop que molts d'ells es van conèixer en persona i, com que va considerar-se tot un èxit, va decidir-se donar-li una continuïtat anual en diferents ubicacions d'arreu d'Europa. Des de llavors, ha estat organitzada per iniciatives locals. La participació s'ha quintuplicat des de la primera conferència i, des del 2001, també ha estat possible seguir les xerrades en temps real des d'Internet. (ca)

La primera GUADEC fue organizada por Mathieu Lacage como un acto puntual y atrajo alrededor de 70 colaboradores de GNOME. Fue la primera vez que muchos de ellos se conocieron en persona y, como se consideró todo un éxito, se decidió darle una continuidad anual en diferentes ubicaciones alrededor de Europa. Desde entonces ha sido organizada por iniciativas locales. La participación se ha quintuplicado desde la primera conferencia y desde el 2001 también ha sido posible seguir las charlas en tiempo real a través de Internet. - GUADEC, the GNOME Users And Developers European Conference, is an annual developer conference, whose prime topic is the development of the GNOME desktop environment and its underlying base software, such as GTK, GStreamer, etc. The first GUADEC was organised by Mathieu Lacage as a one-off event and attracted around seventy GNOME contributors. It was the first time many of them had met in person. The conference was judged a success, and has been held annually in different locations since then, organised by local volunteers.
