A former member of the Socialist Party (PS), Griveaux has frequently been described as one of President Emmanuel Macron's closest political allies. D'abord militant du Parti socialiste, il est collaborateur de Dominique Strauss-Kahn de 2003 à 2007, puis exerce différents mandats locaux en Saône-et-Loire de 2008 à 2015 (conseiller municipal de Chalon-sur-Saône, vice-président de l'agglomération de Chalon-sur-Saône, vice-président du conseil général de Saône-et-Loire). Il est membre du cabinet du ministre de la Santé Marisol Touraine de 2012 à 2014, puis directeur de la communication et des affaires publiques d'Unibail-Rodamco de 2014 à 2016. Proche d'Emmanuel Macron à partir de 2015, il participe à la fondation d'En marche et devient porte-parole du mouvement. Il est élu député en 2017 dans la cinquième circonscription de Paris et devient secrétaire d'État auprès du ministre de l'Économie et des Finances au sein du gouvernement Philippe II. De novembre 2017 à 2019, il exerce la fonction de porte-parole du gouvernement, rattaché au Premier ministre. Il démissionne du gouvernement pour se présenter aux élections municipales de 2020 à Paris, pour lesquelles il obtient l'investiture de La République en marche au détriment de Cédric Villani, qui se présente en candidat dissident. Un mois avant le scrutin, la divulgation de vidéos privées à caractère sexuel par Piotr Pavlenski le conduit à retirer sa candidature alors qu’il faisait face à de mauvais sondages. Il démissionne de son mandat de député en 2021 pour créer un cabinet de conseil en stratégie dédié aux dirigeants d'entreprises. (fr)
