- Der European Challenge Cup 2013/14 war die 18. Ausgabe des European Challenge Cup, des zweitrangigen europäischen Pokalwettbewerbs im Rugby Union. Aus Sponsoringgründen trug er die Bezeichnung Amlin Challenge Cup. Es waren 23 Mannschaften beteiligt – 20 in der Gruppenphase und zusätzlich drei in der K.-o.-Runde, die im Heineken Cup 2013/14 vorzeitig ausschieden. Der Wettbewerb begann am 10. Oktober 2013, das Finale fand am 23. Mai 2014 im Cardiff Arms Park in Cardiff statt. Titelverteidiger war das irische Team Leinster Rugby, das Turnier entschieden die Northampton Saints aus England für sich. Ursprünglich hätte das Finale in Frankreich stattfinden sollen. Doch die Fédération française de rugby zog ihre Bewerbung zurück, aufgrund der Unsicherheit, ob das Stade de France zur Verfügung stehen würde. - The 2013–14 Amlin Challenge Cup was the 18th and final season of the European Challenge Cup, Europe's second tier club rugby union competition. A total of 23 teams participated: 20 in the pool stage, plus three teams parachuting into the knockout stages from the Heineken Cup. The original 20 teams represented six countries. The pool stage began on 10 October 2013 and ran until 19 January 2014, followed by the knockout stages. The final was originally to be held in France in May 2014, however the Federation Française de Rugby subsequently announced that they had withdrawn their application to host due to uncertainty over the availability of Stade de France. ERC invited the Heineken Cup participating countries to submit tenders for the right to host the Heineken Cup and Challenge Cup finals and three – England, Scotland and Wales – submitted bids. Cardiff was selected with the Heineken Cup Final to be held in the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, 24 May 2014 and the Challenge Cup Final to be held the previous day in the Cardiff Arms Park. The defending Challenge Cup champions, Ireland's Leinster, did not defend their crown because they earned an automatic berth in the Heineken Cup, and qualified for the knockout stages of the Heineken Cup. In an all-English final, Northampton Saints defeated Bath 30–16 at the Cardiff Arms Park, to win the tournament for the second time. On 10 April 2014, following nearly two years of negotiations, an agreement for a new European club competition structure was reached. ERC will be wound up and replaced by a new Swiss-based organising body known as European Professional Club Rugby. The European Challenge Cup will undergo a minor name change to become the European Rugby Challenge Cup. It will remain a 20 team competition, though two of these teams will come from a new competition, featuring teams from nations who do not compete in the Six Nations. The Heineken Cup will be replaced by a new top-tier competition, the European Rugby Champions Cup, which will continue to involve clubs from all of the top six European nations, but will feature 20 clubs instead of the 24 in the Heineken Cup. The new third-tier competition, to be known as the Qualifying Competition, will feature clubs from second-tier European rugby nations, plus Italian clubs that do not play in the Pro12. (en)

La compétition se déroule du 10 octobre 2013 au 23 mai 2014 date de la finale disputée à l'Arms Park à Cardiff. La compétition est organisée en deux phases. Une première phase de poules se déroule en matchs aller-retour à la fin de laquelle sont sélectionnées les cinq équipes ayant terminé en tête de leur groupe. - La European Challenge Cup 2013-14 (in inglese 2013-14 European Challenge Cup; in francese Challenge européen 2013-14), per motivi di sponsorizzazione nota anche come Amlin Challenge Cup 2013-14, fu la 18ª edizione della European Challenge Cup, competizione per club di rugby a 15 organizzata da European Rugby Cup come torneo cadetto della Heineken Cup. Si tenne dal 10 ottobre 2013 al 23 maggio 2014 tra 20 squadre provenienti da 6 federazioni (Francia, Galles, Inghilterra, Italia, Portogallo e Romania).La federazione spagnola, per motivi economici, ritirò dalla competizione la propria formazione, che fu rimpiazzata da una franchise portoghese, i Lusitanos XV, che disputò i suoi incontri interni allo stadio nazionale di Lisbona. Fu l'ultima edizione a essere organizzata da European Rugby Cup: a seguito di un accordo economico tra le federazioni del Sei Nazioni e le tre leghe professionistiche in esso operanti (Pro12, Premiership Rugby e Ligue Nationale de Rugby) la ERC fu sciolta e al suo posto fu costituita una nuova società di diritto svizzero, la European Professional Club Rugby, che ereditò le competizioni europee e le ristrutturò su base completamente meritocratica. Al pari delle quattro edizioni precedenti, la European Challenge Cup accolse a partire dai quarti di finale le migliori tre squadre non qualificate alle fasi a eliminazione diretta di Heineken Cup: per la terza volta consecutiva, e per la quarta sulle cinque edizioni in totale disputate con tale formula, la vittoria finale arrise a una delle compagini provenienti dalla competizione di rango superiore: ad aggiudicarsi il torneo fu infatti il Northampton, alla sua seconda affermazione, che batté 30-16 la connazionale Bath nella finale di Cardiff.
