- The Apertura 2007 saw much success for the smaller teams in Argentine football. The eventual champions Lanús won the title for the first time in their history, the first maiden champions since Argentinos Juniors in 1984. Second place went to Tigre, a club playing their first season in the Argentine Primera since 1980 and making their best finish ever in the top flight. Third place went to Banfield, completing an extremely unlikely top three. Another small club, Arsenal won the 2007 Copa Sudamericana, the first major title in their history, making them the first Argentine club other than Boca Juniors to win an international competition since San Lorenzo won the Copa Sudamericana 2002. Another feature of the Apertura was the number of managerial changes, by the end of the Apertura there had been 12 managerial changes. The Clausura 2008 was won by River Plate, their first title since 2004. For the first time the 380 games of the season were broadcast live on television. (en)
- El Campeonato de Primera División 2007-08, organizado por la Asociación del Fútbol Argentino, fue la septuagésima octava temporada de la era profesional de la Primera División. Al igual que en temporadas anteriores, se conformó de dos torneos, consagrando cada uno su propio campeón. El primero, denominado Torneo Apertura 2007, se disputó durante el segundo semestre del año 2007, mientras que el segundo, denominado Torneo Clausura 2008, durante el primer semestre del año 2008. Los nuevos participantes fueron los cuatro equipos ascendidos de la Primera B Nacional 2006-07: Olimpo de Bahía Blanca, tras un año en la segunda división; Huracán y Tigre, que regresaron a la categoría luego de cuatro y veintisiete años, respectivamente; y San Martín de San Juan, que participó por primera vez de la competición regular, aunque había disputado el Campeonato Nacional en 1970. Los campeones de ambos torneos obtuvieron el derecho a disputar la Copa Libertadores 2009. Concluido el campeonato, quedaron determinados también los seis equipos clasificados a la Copa Sudamericana 2008. Asimismo, se produjeron dos descensos por el sistema de promedios a la Primera B Nacional, y se determinaron además a los dos equipos que disputaron la promoción. (es)

Mistrzostwo Argentyny turnieju Clausura w sezonie 2007/08 zdobył River Plate, natomiast wicemistrzostwo Argentyny turnieju Clausura zdobył Boca Juniors. Do turnieju Copa Libertadores 2009 zakwalifikowali się obaj mistrzowie Argentyny, natomiast o tym, które zespoły zagrają w Copa Sudamericana 2008 zadecydowała sumaryczna tabela łącząca wyniki turniejów Apertura i Clausura. Do Copa Libertadores w roku 2009 zakwalifikowały się dwa kluby:

* River Plate Do Copa Sudamericana w roku 2008 zakwalifikowało się siedem klubów:
* River Plate
* Boca Juniors
* Estudiantes La Plata
* San Lorenzo de Almagro
* Independiente
* Argentinos Juniors
* Arsenal Sarandí Buenos Aires Tabela spadkowa zadecydowała o tym, które kluby spadną do drugiej ligi (Primera B Nacional Argentina), a które będą miały szanse obronić swój byt pierwszoligowy w barażach. Bezpośrednio spadły kluby, które w tabeli spadkowej zajęły dwa ostatnie miejsca - Olimpo Bahía Blanca i San Martín San Juan. Na ich miejsce awansowały dwie najlepsze drużyny z drugiej ligi - San Martín Tucumán i Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba. Mecze barażowe musiały stoczyć Racing Club de Avellaneda i Gimnasia y Esgrima Jujuy. Oba zespoły wygrały baraże i utrzymały się w pierwszej lidze. (pl)
