- Die Midland Main Line ist eine Eisenbahnstrecke in Großbritannien. Sie verbindet London mit Luton, Bedford, Kettering, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham und Sheffield. Früher reichte die Linie weiter nach Manchester im Nordwesten und Leeds im Nordosten; Züge verkehrten auch weiter nach Glasgow und Edinburgh in Schottland. Da die West Coast Main Line und die East Coast Main Line nach Elektrifizierung und weiteren Ausbauten schneller geworden sind, hat die Midland Main Line an Bedeutung verloren. Nach einem im November 2021 vorgelegten Plan wird jedoch inzwischen an einer Elektrifizierung bis nach Nottingham bzw. Sheffield gearbeitet.Die im Bau befindliche Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecke High Speed 2 von London nordwärts soll mit einem ab Birmingham geplanten östlichen Ast bei der in die Midland Main Line einmünden. Über die Neubaustrecke und weiter auf der zu modernisierenden Midland Main Line werden HS2-Züge bis nach Nottingham, Derby, und möglicherweise bis Sheffield und Leeds verkehren können. (de)
- The Midland Main Line is a major railway line in England from London to Nottingham and Sheffield in the Midlands. It comprises the lines from London's St Pancras station via Leicester, Derby/Nottingham and Chesterfield in the East Midlands. Express passenger services on the line are operated by East Midlands Railway. The line is electrified between St Pancras and Corby and the section south of Bedford forms the northern half of the Thameslink network, with a semi-fast service to Brighton and other suburban services. A northern part of the route, between Derby and Chesterfield, also forms part of the Cross Country Route operated by CrossCountry. Tracks from Nottingham to Leeds via Barnsley and Sheffield are shared with Northern. East Midlands Railway also operates regional and local services using parts of the line. The Midland Main Line is to receive a major upgrade of new digital signalling and full line electrification from London to Sheffield. HS2 is to branch onto the Midland Main Line at East Midlands Parkway railway station. (en)

Głównymi miastami na trasie linii są Luton, Bedford, Kettering, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham, Chesterfield i Sheffield. W pobliżu miasta Long Eaton Midland Main Line ulega rozdzieleniu – zachodnia nitka prowadzi w kierunku miasta Derby, a dalej na odcinku wspólnym z Cross Country Route przez Chesterfield i Sheffield do Leeds, wschodnia natomiast w kierunku Nottingham. Linia jest zelektryfikowana jedynie na odcinku Londyn-Bedford i ma rozstaw normalnotorowy (1435 mm). Większość przewozów pasażerskie na linii obsługiwanych jest przez spółkę East Midlands Trains.
