- Die Siedler III ist ein Echtzeitstrategiespiel mit Aufbaustrategiespiel-Elementen, entwickelt und veröffentlicht von Blue Byte. Es wurde im November 1998 für Microsoft Windows veröffentlicht und ist das dritte Spiel der Die-Siedler-Reihe nach Die Siedler (1993) und Die Siedler II (1996). Im April 1999 veröffentlichte Blue Byte eine Erweiterung, Die Siedler III Mission CD, die neue Kampagnenmissionen, neue Karten für den Einzel- und Mehrspielermodus und einen Karteneditor enthielt. Im Oktober wurde eine zweite Erweiterung veröffentlicht, Die Siedler III: Das Geheimnis der Amazonen, die zwei neue Einzelspieler-Kampagnen, zusätzliche Einzel- und Mehrspieler-Karten und einen verbesserten Editor enthält. Im Juni 2000 wurde Die Siedler III: Gold Edition veröffentlicht, die das Originalspiel und beide Erweiterungen sowie von Fans erstellte Karten für den Einzel- und Mehrspielermodus, eine neue Schwierigkeitseinstellung "Leicht" für Einzelspielpartien, HTML-Hinweise und Tipps sowie kleinere grafische und spielmechanische Verbesserungen enthält. Im Jahr 2013 wurde die Gold-Edition auf GOG.com unter dem nordamerikanischen Titel Die Siedler III: Ultimate Collection veröffentlicht. 2018 wurde sie als Die Siedler III: History Edition von Ubisoft neu aufgelegt. In 1999, Blue Byte released two expansions, The Settlers III Mission CD and The Settlers III: Quest of the Amazons (German: Die Siedler III: Das Geheimnis der Amazonen), in April and October respectively, featuring new single-player campaign missions, new maps for both single-player and multiplayer modes, and a map editor. In June 2000, The Settlers III: Gold Edition was released, containing the original game and both expansions. In 2013, the Gold Edition was released on GOG.com, and in 2018, it was re-released as The Settlers III: History Edition. In the game's single-player campaign, the player controls one of three races (Romans, Egyptians or Asians) whose respective deities are compelled by the great god HE to each pick a champion from among their people, and have him lead a war against the other peoples, with the gods of the two losing races facing punishment. Quest of the Amazons tells a prequel story, chronicling how Helios's daughter, Q'nqüra, becomes HIS personal assistant, engineering events so that women become the secret rulers of the universe. The game was designed and co-programmed by Volker Wertich, creator of the original Settlers game. Although the core supply and demand-based gameplay is broadly the same as in previous titles, many of the game mechanics have been altered; the player now has direct control over their army; roads are no longer necessary to connect buildings, headquarters no longer automatically generate settlers as required, and the different races now have different economic models, different magic spells, and several unique abilities and buildings. The game was also the first in the series to feature online multiplayer. The Settlers III received mixed reviews. Whilst the economic system and the interrelatedness of the various buildings, as well as the graphics and animations were generally praised, most critics felt it was too similar to previous Settlers titles. The game was a commercial success, selling over 200,000 units in Germany within the first twelve months of its release, and ultimately going on to sell over 700,000 units worldwide. (en)

- The Settlers III (niem. Die Siedler III) – komputerowa strategiczna gra czasu rzeczywistego, wydana przez Blue Byte Software w 1998. Do tworzenia jej powrócił twórca pierwszej części - Volker Wertich, który wprowadził pewne zmiany w stosunku do swojej pierwotnej koncepcji. Jest to kolejna gra z serii The Settlers osadzona w starożytności. Gracz kieruje w niej jednym z wybranych przez siebie ludów – Rzymianami, Egipcjanami lub Azjatami. Gra w założeniach jest podobna do poprzednich części serii. Największą zmianą było zrezygnowanie ze ścieżek łączących budynki z jednej osady. Nowością w stosunku do poprzednich gier z serii było też wprowadzenie do rozgrywki bogów, których kult jest nagradzany między innymi dodatkowymi surowcami, specjalnymi wojskami i plagami spadającymi na wroga. Do gry The Settlers III ukazało się rozszerzenie Quest of the Amazons (w Polsce wydane jako Misja Amazonek). Dodatek wraz z pakietem nowych misji zwanym Mission CD (Nowe Misje) ukazał się w 2000 w zbiorczym wydaniu The Settlers III Gold Edition (The Settlers III: Złota Edycja). (pl)
- The Settlers III é o terceiro jogo da famosa série de estratégia em tempo real, The Settlers, lançado em 30 de novembro de 1998. Houve grandes mudanças no jogo, mesmo mantendo o estilo original, como a independência da jogabilidade sobre as estradas, ou seja, as unidades não precisam de estradas para se mover, e também o controle direto sobre unidades militares, o que deixa o jogo mais familiarizado com outros jogos de estratégia em tempo real, como Age of Empires, Rise of Nations e Empire Earth. Em The Settlers III houve um fato curioso quanto a cópia do jogo, pois nas versões feitas pela pirataria, os ferreiros, ao invés de fazer o ferro, começam a fazer porcos, o que deixa a produção de vários materiais como armas impossível.
