- The King of Limbs és el vuitè àlbum d'estudi de la banda britànica Radiohead. Fou autopublicat el 18 de febrer de 2011 via descàrrega digital en format MP3 i WAV, i posteriorment com a CD i vinil de 12". El títol del disc es refereix probablement a un roure de Savernake Forest, Wiltshire, que té aproximadament un miler d'anys (The King of Limbs, en català el rei de les branques). Després del minuciós procés d'enregistrament que van dur a terme per In Rainbows (2007), Radiohead va realitzar un procés molt més espontani per portar a terme el nou treball, i fins i tot realitzant sampling dels seus propis temes. La banda va donar molt poca informació del nou disc, fins i tot la llista de cançons, fins poc abans de la publicació i no van discutir cap detall amb els mitjans de comunicació passat més de mig any. Com a Kid A (2000), no es va extreure cap senzill de l'àlbum i només es va llançar un videoclip de la cançó "Lotus Flower". L'opinió de la crítica fou força positiva però no tan unànime com amb In Rainbows. Tant el disc com "Lotus Flower" foren nominats a diversos premis però sense cap guardó destacat finalment. Desku produkoval (spolupracoval také například s Travis, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Paulem McCartneym). Kapela slíbila, že album vydá do konce roku 2010. Nechala však fanoušky několik měsíců čekat a vydání alba oznámila teprve pět dní předem. Radiohead nakonec pustili do světa své album o den dříve, což zveřejnili na svém blogu. Datum vydání je 18. února 2011. Tohoto dne vyšlo však jen v digitální podobě, fanoušci si jej mohli stáhnout z internetu na oficiálních stránkách alba v podobě WAV £9.00 nebo MP3 za cenu £6.00. Klasické CD a vinyl bude k dostání od 28. března. 9. května by měla vyjít speciální edice. Spolu s albem zveřejnili také svůj první singl "" s příslušným videoklipem, kde se leader kapely Thom Yorke svíjí v zajetí tance. To zřejmě odkazuje také na název alba, které lze přeložit jako Král končetin. Vydané album sklízí zatím velmi příznivou kritiku jak fanoušků kapely, tak i hudebních recenzentů. (cs)

It was self-released on 18 February 2011 as a download, followed by a physical release on 28 March through XL Recordings internationally and TBD Records in North America. Following the more conventional instrumentation of In Rainbows (2007), The King of Limbs saw Radiohead move further from standard song structures and recording methods. They developed the album with their producer Nigel Godrich through sampling and looping; the singer, Thom Yorke, described it as "an expression of wildness and mutation". The artwork, by Yorke and his longtime collaborator Stanley Donwood, depicts nature and spirits inspired by fairy tales. Radiohead released no singles from The King of Limbs, but released a music video for "Lotus Flower" featuring Yorke's dancing that inspired an internet meme. In 2012, they began an international tour, with several festival appearances. To perform the complex rhythms live, they were joined by a second drummer, Clive Deamer. The European tour was postponed after the temporary stage collapsed in Toronto's Downsview Park, killing the technician Scott Johnson and injuring three others. Though its unconventional production and shorter length divided listeners, The King of Limbs was named one of the best albums of the year by publications including The Wire, NME and PopMatters. It was nominated in five categories at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Music Album. The download version sold an estimated 300,000 to 400,000 copies in two months, and the vinyl became a bestseller in the UK. The retail edition debuted at number seven on the UK Albums Chart and number six on the US Billboard 200, making it the first Radiohead album not to achieve gold certification in the US.
