- France and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1951. The indirect relation between France and Indonesia was commenced during early 19th century colonial Dutch East Indies. Since 2011 both nations have formed a strategic partnership. France has an embassy in Jakarta while Indonesia has an embassy in Paris. The relations between two nations are important as both are democratic republics and both holds significant geopolitical influences in each regions, France is a key member of the European Union, as well as Indonesia for ASEAN. The diplomatic relation between France and Indonesia is also a key element for developing relations between Indonesia and the European Union and between France and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Both nations are the member of G-20 major economies. According to a 2013 BBC World Service Poll, 56% of Indonesians view France's influence positively, with only 14% expressing a negative view. This is one of the most favourable perceptions of France in the Asia-Pacific, following similar positive views by South Korea and Australia. (en)

La France est un membre-clé de l'Union européenne pendant que l'Indonésie est un membre-clé pour l'ASEAN (Association des nations de l'Asie du Sud-Est). Les relations diplomatiques entre les deux jouent un rôle important dans le développement de relations entre l'Indonésie et l'Union Européenne, et aussi entre la France et l'ASEAN. - Hubungan Indonesia dengan Prancis adalah hubungan bilateral luar negeri antara Republik Indonesia dengan Republik Prancis. Hubungan tidak langsung sudah dimulai sejak awal abad ke-19 pada masa kolonial Hindia Belanda. Sejak 2011, tepat pada masa perayaan 60 tahun hubungan diplomatik Indonesia dan Prancis, kedua negara telah sepakat untuk menjalin kemitraan strategis. Prancis memiliki kedutaan besar di Jakarta sementara Indonesia memiliki kedutaan besar di Paris. Hubungan antara kedua negara penting karena keduanya adalah republik demokratis dan kedua negara besar yang memegang pengaruh geopolitik yang sangat penting di kawasan masing-masing, Prancis adalah anggota penting dari Uni Eropa, begitu pula Indonesia adalah anggota penting ASEAN.
