- شهدت مسابقة كرة القدم للرجال في الألعاب الأولمبية الصيفية مشاركة 16 منتخب للرجال من ستة اتحادات قارية. تم تقسيم الفرق الستة عشر إلى أربعة مجمعات تحتوى كل منها على أربعة فرق، بحيث لعب كل فريق ضد الآخر مرة واحدة. في نهاية مرحلة المجموعات، تأهل أفضل فريقين إلى مرحلة خروج المغلوب، بدءاً من ربع النهائي وانتهاءاً بالنهائي الذي أقيم في ملعب أستراليا بسيدني يوم 30 سبتمبر 2000. La competició de futbol es realitzà entre els dies 13 i 30 de setembre del 2000 entre les seus del Stadium Australia i Sydney Football Stadium (Sydney), (Adelaida), (Brisbane), (Canberra) i el Melbourne Cricket Ground (Melbourne). It was the 22nd edition of the men's Olympic football tournament. The final, played at the Olympic Stadium in Sydney, Australia, attracted the Olympic Games Football attendance record of 104,098 which broke the previous record of 101,799 set at the Rose Bowl for the gold medal match of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, with Cameroon winning the gold. - Le tournoi masculin de football aux Jeux olympiques d'été de 2000 se tient à Sydney et dans quatre autres villes d'Australie, du 13 septembre au 30 septembre 2000. Les fédérations affiliées à la FIFA participent par le biais de leur équipe de moins de 23 ans aux épreuves de qualification, à partir desquels 15 équipes, auxquelles s'ajoute la nation hôte, rejoignent le tournoi olympique. Les équipes masculines peuvent inscrire en plus jusqu'à trois joueurs ayant atteint l'âge de 23 ans. Ce tournoi ne dispose pas de la même aura que les compétitions de football proposées par la FIFA ou l'UEFA car ce ne sont pas les sélections premières qui y participent. De plus, les quotas de places par continent sont répartis différemment, au détriments des continents où se trouvent ordinairement les sélections les plus fortes. (fr)
