- Die European Trophy war ein europäisches Eishockey-Turnier für Klubmannschaften. Nach der Absage der Champions Hockey League 2009/10 wurde die auf Skandinavien beschränkte Nordic Trophy 2010 auf ganz Europa ausgeweitet, wodurch die European Trophy ins Leben gerufen wurde. Bei der ersten Austragung nahmen 18 Mannschaften aus sieben Nationen teil, im zweiten Jahr wurde der Wettbewerb auf 24 und im dritten und vierten Jahr auf 32 Mannschaften erweitert. Als Finalturnier des Wettbewerbs diente der Red Bulls Salute. Die European Trophy war als von den beteiligten Clubs ausgetragener Wettbewerb kein offizieller Europapokal, nahm aber in der Zeit der Austragung die Stelle des sportlich höchsten Wettbewerb für europäische Eishockeyclubs ein. Zur Saison 2014/15 wurde die (neue) Champions Hockey League gegründet, wobei die Teilhaber der European Trophy erheblich an der Gründung beteiligt waren und die CHL wie ehemals die European Trophy größtenteils von den Clubs und den wichtigsten Ligen getragen wird. - European Trophy (previously named Nordic Trophy between 2006 and 2009) was an annually held ice hockey tournament, traditionally composed of teams from the higher-level ice hockey leagues in countries across Europe. With 32 participating teams from seven countries in 2013, the European Trophy was at the time the biggest active ice hockey tournament in Europe. Starting with the 2014–15 season, the European Trophy was replaced by the Champions Hockey League, a more formal competition which also included all of the champions of Europe's major national leagues. Sweden and Finland always participated, and they were the only two countries participating when the tournament was named "Nordic Trophy". The tournament began in 2006 under the name "Nordic Trophy" with eight teams, four from Sweden and four from Finland. In 2010, several teams from European countries outside Scandinavia agreed to join the tournament, which changed its name to European Trophy as a result. By the 2013 tournament, eight countries had been represented: Sweden, Finland, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Norway. No team ever won the tournament more than one time. - L'European Trophy (precedentemente noto come Nordic Trophy fra il 2006 ed il 2009) è stato un torneo ad inviti estivo di hockey su ghiaccio, tradizionalmente composto fra alcune delle più forti squadre dei principali campionati d'Europa. Con oltre trenta squadre partecipanti provenienti da diverse nazioni l'European Trophy era il più grande torneo estivo di hockey su ghiaccio d'Europa. Svezia e Finlandia hanno sempre preso parte al torneo, in particolare nel periodo 2006-2009, quando la competizione era limitata ai due paesi scandinavi ed era chiamata "Nordic Trophy". Nessuna squadra ha mai vinto il titolo per più di un'edizione. Sin dall'inaugurazione della competizione nel 2006, otto nazioni sono state rappresentate: Svezia, Finlandia, Austria, Repubblica Ceca, Germania, Slovacchia, Svizzera e Norvegia. Nel 2007 il torneo passò da 6 ad 8 squadre, inaugurando anche l'omologo torneo per squadre giovanili. Nel 2008 la lega si espanse invitando altre due formazioni. Nel 2010 il torneo cambiò nome in European Trophy, con la partecipazione inoltre di club da Norvegia, Germania, Repubblica Ceca, Svizzera ed Austria. In 2011 il torneo si allargò fino ad ospitare 24 squadre. La Slovacchia fu rappresentata per la prima volta, al posto di Norvegia e Svizzera. Nel 2012 il torneo si allargò a 32 formazioni; fra gli 8 nuovi posti a disposizione la Svizzera tornò ad essere rappresentata da quattro squadre. - European Trophy (Nordic Trophy mellan 2006 och 2009) var en ishockeyturnering som spelades mellan augusti och början av september varje år, månaden innan Elitserien i ishockey drar igång (Elitserien i ishockey drar igång i september varje år). Från början bestod turneringen bara av lag från Sverige och Finland, men 2010 blev turneringen europeisk med lag från Tyskland, Schweiz, Österrike och Norge. 2014 ersattes turneringen av Champions Hockey League. Turneringen infördes 2006 och innehöll då sex stycken lag. Året därpå expanderades turneringen till åtta lag, inklusive de deltagande klubbarnas respektive juniorlag. 2008 och 2009 expanderades turneringen ytterligare med två lag till det dåvarande formatet med 12 lag. 2009 delades turneringen upp i en finsk och en svensk turnering. Den 26 december 2009 blev det klart att det blir en turnering 2010. En liknande turnering fanns tidigare för juniorer och kallades för European Trophy Junior; den turneringen lades dock ner efter 2010. (sv)
