- El Colegio de México (COLMEX), és una institució pública mexicana d'educació superior i investigació en les Ciències socials i Humanitats. Va ser fundada el 8 d'octubre, 1940 pel govern federal, el Banc central de Mèxic, la Universitat Nacional Autònoma de Mèxic i el . Va tenir com antecedent immediat "" (1938-1940), institució que al seu torn va ser creada pel govern del president Lázaro Cárdenas per a donar treball als intel·lectuals espanyols que hi van emigrar per la Guerra civil espanyola. Des de 1998 opera com a institució autònoma. Des de la seva creació i fins al 1958, el COLMEX va estar presidit per Alfonso Reyes. Durant aquells anys van ser creats diversos centres d'investigació especialitzats: el Centro de Estudios Históricos (1941) i el Centro de Estudios Sociales (1943), El Centro de Estudios Lingüísticos y Literarios (1947). Posteriorment es va crear el Centro de Estudios Internacionales (1960) i el Centro de Estudios Económicos y Demográficos (1964). El 1976 el COLMEX es va instal·lar en l'edifici on actualment té la seu al sud de la ciutat de Mèxic. L'any 2001 li fou concedit el Premi Príncep d'Astúries de Ciències Socials, juntament amb el jurista Juan Iglesias Santos. (ca)

- El Colegio de México, A.C. (commonly known as Colmex, English: The College of Mexico) is a Mexican institute of higher education, specializing in teaching and research in social sciences and humanities. The college was founded in 1940 by the Mexican Federal Government, the Bank of Mexico (Banco de México), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the Fondo de Cultura Económica. In the late 1930s, following the end of the Spanish Civil War, Mexican president Lázaro Cardenas created the (1938–1940) to host Spanish intellectuals in exile in Mexico; Mexico was the only country that in 1939 welcomed Spanish refugees. Under the direction of intellectual Alfonso Reyes, the House of Spain became a higher education center, and was renamed El Colegio de México in 1940. The College now operates under a 1961 charter that allows the institution to provide college-level teaching in the fields of humanistic knowledge and social and political sciences. In 1976, the university's campus was moved from the Colonia Roma (a historic neighborhood just west of the city's center) to its current location in the southern portion of the capital; the main building of the campus was designed by the Mexican architect Teodoro González de León. The college contains seven separate academic centers collectively offering three undergraduate degrees, seven master's degrees and eight doctoral degrees. El Colegio de México received the Prince of Asturias Award for Social Sciences in 2001. Colmex's library (Biblioteca Daniel Cosío Villegas), one of the largest academic libraries in Mexico, contains one of the most important Latin American collections in the fields of the social sciences and humanities. En 1998, se convirtió en una institución autónoma. En 2001, se le concedió el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de Ciencias Sociales. La institución cuenta con siete centros de estudios, y se imparten en ellos un total de tres licenciaturas, siete maestrías y ocho doctorados. Posee una de las bibliotecas especializadas en ciencias sociales (incluida una extensa colección de literatura) más importantes de América Latina (más de 665 mil volúmenes).
