- Die Chrystie Street Connection besteht aus zwei 1967 und 1968 eröffneten U-Bahn-Strecken der New York City Subway in Manhattan. Die Chrystie Street Connection ist eine der wenigen Verbindungen zwischen zwei ursprünglich getrennten U-Bahn-Netzen: Dem Netz der ehemaligen (BMT) und dem (ISS, später IND). Sie ist zugleich ein erster Abschnitt der seit 1919 geplanten und aus Geldmangel nur zum kleinsten Teil verwirklichten IND Second Avenue Line. Die Chrystie Street Connection verbindet die – die jüngere der beiden Stammstrecken der Independent in Manhattan – mit der (über die Manhattan Bridge) und der (über die Williamsburg Bridge). Sie verläuft unterirdisch entlang der Chrystie Street auf der Lower East Side. An der Straßenoberfläche wird die namensgebende Chrystie Street in ihrem weiteren Verlauf nordwärts zur Second Avenue Manhattans. Die Chrystie Street Connection wurde von der New York City Transit Authority ab 1954 geplant und ab 1957 gebaut. Mit der Inbetriebnahme der Verbindung zur Manhattan Bridge 1967 wurden die Netze der BMT-Division und der IND-Division organisatorisch zur vereinigt. Seither können mehr Fahrgäste aus den Stadtbezirken Brooklyn und Queens umsteigefrei nach Midtown Manhattan fahren. In Midtown war zusätzlich zum traditionellen Geschäftszentrum um den Financial District von Lower Manhattan in einer über Jahrzehnte ablaufenden städtebaulichen Entwicklung das größte Büro- und Geschäftszentrum New Yorks entstanden. - The Chrystie Street Connection is a set of New York City Subway tunnels running the length of Chrystie Street on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It is one of the few track connections between lines of the former Brooklyn–Manhattan Transit Corporation (BMT) and Independent Subway System (IND) divisions, which together constitute the system's B Division. A major branch of the IND Sixth Avenue Line, it connects the Sixth Avenue Line to the BMT Brighton Line and BMT Fourth Avenue Line via the north side of the Manhattan Bridge and to the BMT Jamaica Line over the Williamsburg Bridge. The project, opened in 1967 and 1968, also includes the Sixth Avenue Line's Grand Street and 57th Street stations, the latter of which is not part of the connection itself. The connection was originally conceived as part of the long delayed Second Avenue Subway, and, along with the 3 stations added with the opening of phase 1, is one of the few completed sections of the project. La connessione è costituita da una diramazione della linea IND Sixth Avenue che si connette con i due binari nord del ponte di Manhattan e con la linea BMT Jamaica attraverso il ponte di Williamsburg. Il progetto, completato tra il 1967 e 1968, portò anche alla costruzione di due stazioni, Grand Street e 57th Street, anche se quest'ultima non è parte della connessione.
