- Bowed guitar is a method of playing a guitar, acoustic or electric, in which the guitarist uses a bow, rather than the more common plectrum, to vibrate the instruments' strings, similar to playing a viola da gamba. Unlike traditionally bowed instruments such as violins, the guitar generally has a relatively flat bridge radius and closely positioned strings, making it difficult to bow individual notes on the middle strings. The technique is often associated with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin and the Yardbirds, as well as Jónsi of Sigur Rós. Eddie Phillips of the British group the Creation was one of the first rock guitarists to use a bow in their 1966 song "Making Time". (en)
- ギターのボウイング奏法（ギターのボウイングそうほう、英語：bowed guitar）とは、ヴァイオリンやチェロの弓でエレキギターを奏でるギターの特殊奏法。 ギターを低めに構えチェロを演奏するように弓で弦をこするかあるいは叩いたり撫でるようにして演奏する。これによって通常のギタープレイでは得られない独特の音響効果を得ることが出来る。しかし、この奏法を使用する事によってヴァイオリンやチェロと似たような音を得られる訳では無く、弓その物もギター演奏用に作られてはいない物なので、余程繊細に弾かなければすぐに弓が駄目になってしまう。安価な機材ではさながらガラスを擦っているような音しか発しないのも難点である。 (ja)
- Guitarra com arco, ou ainda Guitarra com arco de violino, é um método de tocar guitarra, acústica ou elétrica, no qual o guitarrista usa um arco, em vez da paleta, para vibrar as cordas dos instrumentos, como se estivesse tocando um violino ou uma viola da gamba. Ao contrário desses instrumentos, que são tradicionalmente curvados, a guitarra geralmente tem um raio de ponte relativamente plano e cordas posicionadas próximas, tornando difícil fazer o arco tocar notas individuais nas cordas do meio. O guitarrista Eddie Phillips, da banda The Creation, foi o pioneiro no uso desta técnica. Embora Phillips tenha sido o primeiro a utilizá-la, Jimmy Page, do Led Zeppelin, mais tarde popularizou a técnica para um público mais amplo, levando muitos a acreditar erroneamente que Page, e não Phillips, havia sido o criador deste estilo de tocar guitarra.
