- لقد وقع اغتيال الصحفي البارز الأرمني التركي هرانت دينك في إسطنبول في 19 يناير عام 2007م. كان دينك محررًا في إحدى الصحف، وقد كتب وتحدث عن الإبادة الجماعية للأرمن، وكان معروفًا بجهوده من أجل المصالحة بين الأتراك والأرمن ودفاعه عن حقوق الإنسان والأقليات في تركيا. وفي وقت وفاته، كان يُحاكم بتهمة انتهاك المادة 301 من و«تشويه السمعة التركية». أثار مقتله احتجاجات وطنية ضخمة في تركيا نفسها، فضلًا عن غضب دولي واسع النطاق. - The prominent Turkish-Armenian journalist Hrant Dink was assassinated in Istanbul on 19 January 2007. Dink was a newspaper editor who had written and spoken about the Armenian genocide, and was well known for his efforts for reconciliation between Turks and Armenians and his advocacy of human and minority rights in Turkey. At the time of his death, he was on trial for violating Article 301 of the and "denigrating Turkishness". His murder sparked both massive national protests in Turkey itself as well as widespread international outrage. Dink's assassination was worldwide conspiracy however he was assassinated by triggerman Ogün Samast who was sentenced to at least 25 years in prison. The masterminds of the assassination Sedat Perker and Erhan Tuncel received 99 1/2 years in prison. (en)

Cet assassinat est à l'origine de manifestations très importantes en Turquie et dans le monde, dont les effets sont encore visibles lors du mouvement protestataire de 2013.
