- Elias de Barjols est un jongleur et troubadour, ayant vécu à la fin du XIIe siècle et au début du XIIIe siècle, actif en Provence, entre les années 1191 et 1225. Il fréquente plusieurs cours, dont celles d'Alphonse II de Provence et de Blacatz (Blacas de Blacas). Il est aussi le poète et chantre des comtesses Garsende de Sabran (1180-vers 1242) et Béatrice de Savoie). Il vécut toute sa vie comme troubadour et, à la fin de ses jours, se fit moine. Il reste aujourd'hui de lui environ quinze pièces, dont deux descorts. (fr)
- Elias de Barjols (fl. 1191–1230) was a bourgeois Aquitainian troubadour who established himself in Provence and retired a monk. Eleven of his lyrics survive, but none of his music. According to his vida Elias was the son of a merchant and came from Agenais. The name of his birthplace is peiols in the manuscripts, but such a name can not be found in Agenais nor elsewhere: the most recent edition suggests that peiols is a scribal error for Poiols, ancient name of Pujols, castle placed in Agenais, about 25 km from Agen. The identification of peiols as Pérols-sur-Vézère, as Stronski proposed in 1906, is untenable, because this place was not a castle and was not in Agenais, but in Limousin. - Elias de Barjols, anche scritto Helias de Bariol o N'Elias de Bariols (... – ...; fl. ca. 1210-1230), è stato un trovatore aquitano che ha svolto la propria attività in Provenza.Dei suoi componimenti ne sopravvivono tredici, nessuno dei quali ha conservato la musica. Successivamente Elias si ritirò nell' (Saint d'Avignon), dove morì.
