- ZOOM Erlebniswelt (les mondes féeriques) est un parc zoologique situé dans la ville de Gelsenkirchen dans l'État de Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie, en Allemagne. Inauguré en 1949 sous le nom de Ruhr Zoo, il a été renommé en 2002. Moderne au moment de son inauguration, il commençait à vieillir avec l’évolution des parcs zoologiques dans les années 2000. Une rénovation totale du parc a été entreprise afin d’en faire un des plus beaux et des plus grands zoos d’Europe. C'est l'un des premiers zoos européens entièrement destiné à l'immersion du public au cœur des habitats animaliers. ZOOM Erlebniswelt a une superficie d'environ 31 hectares et propose environ cinq cents animaux d'environ une centaine d'espèces. Il reçoit plus d'un million de visiteurs chaque année. Il est membre de Association européenne des zoos et des aquariums (EAZA). Il a reçu le Scout Award du meilleur zoo en Allemagne pour la saison 2008/09. (fr)
- ZOOM Erlebniswelt Gelsenkirchen, founded on April 14, 1949, as "Ruhr-Zoo", is one of the most modern zoological gardens in Germany. It was founded on a heavily shelled area in Gelsenkirchen adjacent to a port on the Rhine–Herne Canal. It initially encompassed 15.5 hectares. During its first years, there was a large turnover of animals as an animal trader provided them. Today the park is owned by the city of Gelsenkirchen via GEW – Gesellschaft für Energie und Wirtschaft mbH (society for energy and business), a holding of municipally owned concerns. After 2004 the park was enlarged to the present size. It is incredibly well known for its panoramas and cultural approach. The main attractions are big animals, mostly mammals; the zoo has no aquarium house, insectarium or other facilities for smaller animals. The numbers before 2005 reflect average visitor numbers for the old Ruhr-Zoo. (en)
