- Uriya Shavit (hebräisch אוריה שביט; * 22. Juni 1975 in Tel-Aviv) ist ein israelischer Autor und Professor für Islamwissenschaften an der Universität Tel Aviv (TAU). Seit 2016 leitet er dort das Institut für Arabistik und Islamwissenschaft und das Graduiertenprogramm für Religionswissenschaft. Seit 2021 ist Shavit einer von zwei Leitern des Shandong-Tel Aviver Instituts für israelische und jüdische Studien und er leitet das Kantor Zentrum für Studien zum zeitgenössischen europäischen Judentum. Shavit spezialisiert sich auf zeitgenössisches islamisches Recht, Theologie, Politik, sowie auf Studien zu muslimischen Minderheiten in der westlichen Welt. In der Vergangenheit arbeitete Shavit als leitender Journalist für Haaretz und andere israelische Zeitungen. Shavit ist Autor von Romanen und Kinderbüchern. (de)
