- Toxicity és el segon disc d'estudi del grup de Metal Alternatiu, System of a down. Llançat el 4 de setembre de 2001 per American Recordings, va tenir un gran èxit internacional i va donar a conèixer la banda a tot el món, més que mai. El disc Toxicity conté els senzills Chop Suey!, Aerials i Toxicity. El disc fou número u del Billboard estatunidenc l'any 2001 i va ser el disc més escoltat després dels atemtats de l'11 de setembre de Nova York. První singl Chop Suey! byl nominován na Grammy. Muzika System of a Down na albu Toxicity není lehce zařaditelná a označit ji jako folk-alternative-metal není vůbec úplné. Jejich hudba je charakterizována přechody mezi surovými a nelítostnými riffy a nádhernými lyrickými pasážemi, inspirovanými mimo jiné i hudbou Středního východu. Texty na Toxicity rozebírají sociologické a politické problémy a nikoli osobní život Malakiana jako na Mezmerize/Hypnotize. Přesto je význam vzkazovaného textu tak neurčitý, jako hudební styl kapely. V každé skladbě je sice možné vypozorovat určité znaky, o čem by asi měla být, ale úplná pravda se skrývá v podvědomí každého posluchače a záleží jen na něm, jakou si zvolí. Při nahrávání alba vzniklo okolo 30 písní, na Toxicity se jich však dostalo jen 14. Na zbytku skupina pracovala ještě rok a vydala na následujícím počinu Steal This Album! (podobně jako Load/ReLoad od Metallicy či Reise, Reise/Rosenrot od Rammstein). Obal alba byl navržen Markem Wakefieldem, který byl do nahrazení Chesterem Benningtonem zpěvákem Linkin Park. (cs)

- Toxicity is the second studio album by Armenian-American heavy metal band System of a Down, released on September 4, 2001, through American Recordings and Columbia Records. Expanding on their 1998 eponymous debut, it incorporated more melody, harmonies, and singing than the band's first album. Categorized primarily as alternative metal and nu metal, Toxicity features elements of multiple genres, including folk, progressive rock, jazz, and Armenian and Greek music, including prominent use of instruments like the sitar, banjo, keyboards, and piano. It contains a wide array of political and non-political themes, such as mass incarceration, the CIA, the environment, police brutality, drug addiction, scientific reductionism, and groupies. Toxicity was recorded at Cello Studios in Hollywood, California. Over 30 songs were recorded, but the band narrowed the number of songs on the album to 14. The album peaked at number one on both the Billboard 200 and the Canadian Albums Chart, sold 220,000 copies in its first week of release, was certified six times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America by July 2022, and has shipped at least six million copies in the United States. All of Toxicity's singles reached the Billboard Hot 100. The final single, "Aerials", went to number one on both the Mainstream Rock Tracks and the Modern Rock Tracks charts. - Toxicity är System of a Downs andra album, utgivet 2001. Det har sålt över 12 miljoner exemplar världen över och uppnått platinastatus tre gånger om i USA. Albumet debuterade på plats 1 både på Billboard 200-listan och på den kanadensiska topplistan. Det är det enda System of a Down-album som inte har ett Parental Advisory-märke på sig, trots att det förekommer smärre svordomar.
