- Simon Gallup (* 1. Juni 1960 in , Surrey) ist seit 1979 Bassist in der Band The Cure mit einer Unterbrechung von Sommer 1982 bis Frühjahr 1985. Er hat vier ältere Geschwister, drei Brüder, eine Schwester. 1961 zog die Familie nach Horley/Surrey um, dort besuchte Simon Gallup die Grundschule von 1965 bis 1971 und danach die Gesamtschule bis 1976. Nach der Schule arbeitete er bis 1979 in einer Kunststofffabrik. Außer bei The Cure spielte Simon Gallup Bass bei und Lockjaw. Während seiner Pause bei The Cure war er Gründungsmitglied der Gruppe Cry, die sich später in Fools Dance umbenannte und mit der er zwei EPs sowie mehrere Singles veröffentlichte. (de)

Na een ruzie met Robert Smith, de voorman van de groep, verliet Gallup The Cure na de Pornography-tour in juni 1982. Han medverkade på vad som kallats "The Dark Trilogy", albumen Seventeen Seconds, Faith och Pornography. Han lämnade 1982 bandet efter den synnerligen uppslitande "14 Explicit Moments Tour", då han dels slagits offentligt med sångaren Robert Smith och bandet sedan förklarade sig upplöst vid sin sista konsert på turnén, i Bryssel den 11 juni 1982. Tillsammans med gruppens roadie bildade Gallup därefter gruppen som gav ut två EP-skivor. Gallup och Smith försonades dock 1985 och han har sedan dess förblivit i bandet. Hans bror hjälpte The Cure göra videon Carnage Visors, som man visade som en del av showen under sin turné 1981. Simon Gallup har varit gift två gånger, ena gången med Carolé Joy Thompson, som är syster till The Cures gitarrist Porl Thompson, och sedan gift med Sarah. (sv)
