- El lanzamiento de fardo es un deporte practicado en el País Vasco (especialmente en el País Vasco Francés), y en Escocia. Se utiliza una horca para enganchar un saco lleno de paja por encima de una barra horizontal a mayor altura que la cabeza del lanzador.se juega en una superficie de 300m cuadrados. En Escocia, el peso habitual es de 16 libras (unos 7 kilos). Allí se le dan tres oportunidades a cada competidor para sobrepasar limpiamente la barra sin que el fardo la toque. Después de que todos los participantes han hecho sus lanzamientos, se eleva la barra y todos los competidores que hayan superado la primera eliminatoria, vuelven a intentarlo con la nueva altura, hasta que se elimina a todos los atletas menos a uno. - The sheaf toss is a traditional Scottish agricultural sport event originally contested at country fairs. A pitchfork is used to hurl a burlap bag stuffed with straw over a horizontal bar above the competitor's head. Typical weight for the bag is 16 pounds (about 7 kg). Three chances are given to each competitor to cleanly go over the bar. After all challengers have made their attempts, the bar is raised and all successful competitors move on to the new height. This continues until all but one athlete is eliminated. The Sheaf toss has been incorporated as an event at many of the Scottish highland games although technically it is not itself a heavy athletics event. The sheaf toss is also a traditional sport in the Basque Country. It is a feature of the annual Sykehouse Show in South Yorkshire, England. Sheaf tossing is also contested in Ireland and Australia particularly at agricultural shows and at fairs; Irish sheaf tossing differs from sheaf tossing in Scotland and France in that the sheaf is made of rushes which are bound tightly with baling twine and are not placed in a bag. The rules are the same as the Scottish version and a pitchfork is used. The same pitchfork is usually used for all competitors so as not to give anybody an unfair advantage by allowing them use their own customised pitchfork. A variation of this rule is that if one brings a custom pitchfork to the competition, they must allow any other competitor to use that fork. (en)
- Le Lasto botatze ou le « lancer de botte de paille » est un sport pratiqué au Pays basque et fait partie des jeux de la force basque (particulièrement au Pays basque français). On utilise une fourche, dont la longueur n'excède pas 1,80 m, une botte de foin de 12 à 13 kg, pour jeter une botte pleine de paille au-dessus d'une barre horizontale à une plus grande hauteur que la tête du lanceur. En Écosse, le poids habituel est de 16 livres (environ 7 kilos). Là on donne trois chances à chaque concurrent de dépasser proprement la barre sans que la botte la touche. Après que tous les participants aient effectué leurs lancers, la barre s'élève et tous les concurrents qui ont passé la première éliminatoire, essaient à nouveau avec la nouvelle hauteur, jusqu'à ce qu'on élimine tous les concurrents sauf un.
