- La Operación Jaque, fue una operación de liberación de 15 secuestrados por las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia-Ejército del Pueblo, realizada por las Fuerzas Militares de Colombia en julio de 2008 en el departamento del Guaviare al sur del país. Fue denominada por la primera letra del mes de la operación (julio) y en referencia al jaque del ajedrez. Fue un rescate humanitario concebido después de que se conoció que fueron vistos los contratistas estadounidenses bañándose en el río Inírida, lugar cercano al relatado por el suboficial de la policía Jhon Frank Pinchao. Tras este suceso, el ejército colombiano decide crear tácticas para infiltrar al Frente Primero de las FARC-EP. (es)

Parmi eux figure la Franco-Colombienne Íngrid Betancourt, dont l'enlèvement en février 2002 – alors qu'elle était candidate à l'élection présidentielle de Colombie – et la détention avaient été fortement médiatisés. - Operatie Jaque was een Colombiaanse militaire operatie, die als doel had vijftien mensen te bevrijden die werden vastgehouden door de FARC. De operatie vond plaats op 2 juli 2008, langs de rivier de in het Guaviare departement. De groep gijzelaars bestond uit de voormalige presidentskandidate van Colombia, Íngrid Betancourt, drie Amerikaanse aannemers en elf leden van het leger en politie. Het leger was al een jaar geïnfiltreerd in de FARC-eenheid die Betancourt gevangen hield. Ze maakten de lokale commandant wijs dat de gijzelaars per helikopter naar een andere locatie verplaatst zouden worden. Deze helikopter was echter bemand door het Colombiaanse leger en eenmaal in de lucht werd de bewaker van de gijzelaars overmeesterd. De naam van de operatie komt van het Spaanse woord voor de schaakterm "schaak". (nl)
