- The Sonata in E major for flute and basso continuo (BWV 1035) is a sonata for transverse flute and figured bass composed by J. S. Bach in the 1740s. It was written as the result of a visit in 1741 to the court of Frederick the Great in Potsdam, where Bach's son Carl Philipp Emanuel had been appointed principal harpsichordist to the king the previous year. It was dedicated to Michael Gabriel Fredersdorf, the king's valet and private secretary, who, like the king, was an amateur flautist. (en)

* Adagio ma non tanto
* Allegro
* Siciliano
* Allegro assai Cette sonate est plus difficile que d'autres compositions pour flûte de Bach. Selon la couverture d'une copie de la partition, Bach écrivit cette sonate pour le très talentueux flûtiste Michael Gabriel Fredersdorf de Potsdam qui était au service du roi Frédéric II de Prusse, grand amateur de musique pour flûte et lui-même flûtiste. La particularité de cette sonate consiste en l'utilisation fréquente des altérations, ce qui est inhabituel pour une sonate de Bach. Il y a aussi un usage fréquent d'une certaine dynamique, qui est une autre marque de Bach. En outre, les deuxième et quatrième mouvements suivent une forme binaire avec une section A et B que chacune répète. Autre particularité, bien que la sonate soit en mi majeur, le mouvement « Siciliano » est en ut dièse mineur. Dans la plupart des notations de musique de ce morceau, il y a peu d'indications d'articulation parce qu'elles étaient ajoutées au moment de l'exécution. Par ailleurs, les trilles à l'époque baroque commencent sur la note supérieure. (fr)
