- El Districte d'Ungava fou un districte dels Territoris del Nord-oest (Canadà). Creat el 1895, la seva extensió va ser modificada el 1897 per l'annexió de les illes situades al llarg de la costa i de nou el 1898 amb la cessió de la seva part meridional a la província del Quebec. El 1912, el territori del districte d'Ungava va ser cedit al Quebec, però les illes costaneres van romandre dins els Territoris del Nord-oest fins al 1999, quan van passar a formar part del nou territori de Nunavut. El 1927, l'extrem oriental de l'antic districte d'Ungava va ser atorgat a la colònia britànica del Labrador pel Comitè Judicial del Consell Privat de Londres; des de 1949, aquest territori forma part de la província de Terranova i Labrador. - The District of Ungava was a regional administrative district of Canada's Northwest Territories from 1895 to 1920, although it effectively ceased operation in 1912. It covered the northern portion of what is today Quebec, the interior of Labrador, and the offshore islands to the west and north of Quebec, which are now part of Nunavut. The name "Ungava" is of Inuktitut origin, meaning "towards the open water". It is believed to be in reference to the lands inhabited by the Ungava Inuit, who lived at the mouth of the Arnaud River which flows into Ungava Bay. (en)

En 1912, il fut presque entièrement incorporée à cette dernière, à l'exception des îles au large des côtes maritimes du district qui demeurèrent intégrées aux Territoires du Nord-Ouest au sein du district de Franklin. En 1927, l'extrémité orientale de l'ancien district de l'Ungava est accordée à la colonie britannique du Labrador par le Comité judiciaire du Conseil privé de Londres; depuis 1949, ce territoire fait partie de la province de Terre-Neuve, ce fait étant toujours contesté par le gouvernement du Québec. В 1927 пробританская администрация передала часть уже квебекской территории англоязычной провинции Ньюфаундленд и Лабрадор.
