- Das Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD ist ein Artist-in-Residence-Programm des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes (DAAD) in Berlin. Der DAAD führt das 1963 von der Ford Foundation initiierte Programm seit 1965 in eigener Regie und mit Mitteln des Auswärtigen Amtes und des Berliner Senats fort; er vergibt jährlich etwa 20 Stipendien für einen einjährigen Arbeitsaufenthalt in Berlin an Künstler aus aller Welt aus u. a. den Sparten Bildende Kunst, Literatur und Musik. 1978 wurde im Rahmen des Berliner Künstlerprogramms die DAAD-Galerie (eigene Schreibweise daadgalerie) als Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst gegründet, um den DAAD-Stipendiaten eine Plattform für ihre künstlerischen Aktivitäten zu geben. In der DAAD-Galerie finden entsprechend dem Spektrum der Gastkünstler neben Kunstausstellungen auch Lesungen, Konzerte, Filmvorführungen und Performances statt. (de)

Originally initiated by the Ford Foundation in 1963, the program has been run by the DAAD – with the assistance of the German Federal Foreign Office and the Senate of Berlin – since 1965. From the Web site: Programme description The Artists-in-Berlin Program sees itself as a platform for artistic and cultural exchange throughout and beyond Europe. Every year, it invites applications from around the world for approximately 20 fellowships, usually funding a one-year stay in Berlin. These fellowships are aimed at extraordinary and internationally established artists from abroad. The Artists-in-Berlin Program is designed to offer its guests space for their creative work, promote the diversity and variety of artistic viewpoints, and strengthen the freedom of the arts and the written and spoken word. Fellowship holders therefore have every freedom to develop their approach, to work on their art, and to interact with fellow artists. Target group Internationally established and outstanding artists from abroad who would like to come to Berlin in order to work on their art and interact with fellow artists. Age is irrelevant. (en)
